“That day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run, so I ran to the road, and when I got there, I thought maybe I ran to the end of the road……”- Forrest Gump. And with this, the most anticipated run of the year began.
Running now has so many different meanings for so many different people beyond the straightforward idea of maintaining fitness. It has evolved into a platform for expressing liberation, unity, and increasing societal consciousness. Keeping this in mind, the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade conducted a marathon on 20th November to raise awareness about mental health.
As part of the event, there were two tracks, one 5.5 km, and the other 11.5 km long. More than 500 runners from all over the country gathered to participate in the event. The hustle and bustle that filled the campus early in the morning would be a memory IIFT will cherish.
The marathon kickstarted with the chief guest, Mr. Ripu Daman, an established social activist who is also known as the Plogman of India waving the flag.
Runners of different ages, diverse backgrounds, and occupations all started running together united for a cause. People crossed each checkpoint with zeal and gusto and ultimately reached the finish line.
The energy spent and enthusiasm were revived by the refreshments that Mélange and our sponsors Muscleblaze provided. Visitors and runners could also grab eye-catching personal grooming appliances from VGR.
The final part of the event was prize distribution, the moment that everyone was awaiting since morning finally commenced. The chief guests of the morning, Ms. Rashmi Rai, the popular fitness model along with Mr. Ripu Daman distributed the prizes for the winners of the four races, which were held on the two tracks. Every participant received a medal as well.

The smile of accomplishment on the faces of every individual after running the Marathon was indeed memorable and reflected the success of IIFT Marathon 2022.
