Trends and Analysis:
The latest placement season witnessed a notable decline of 15% in the number of offers by management consulting firms. However, there was a significant increase in niche consulting roles and conglomerate hiring, with a 13% rise in roles offered by conglomerates. Notably, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) emerged as a prominent recruiter with 17 offers for consulting roles, followed by PwC with 9 offers.
Placement Process:
The placement process at IIM Ahmedabad was conducted in two stages. The first stage included the Laterals process, catering to students with prior work experience, where 28 firms participated across various sectors. Subsequently, firms were grouped into 30 cohorts based on their core businesses for the final stage, inviting groups of cohorts to campus across different clusters.

This year witnessed the addition of 23 new recruiters, contributing to the diverse pool of participating companies. Prof. Ankur Sinha, chairperson of the placement committee at IIM Ahmedabad, highlighted the significant recruiter engagement during the challenging job market. He emphasized the increase in the number of participating companies and the greater diversity in job roles offered. He remarked “Despite a challenging job market this year, IIMA witnessed significant recruiter engagement during the placement season. This year, we observed not only an increase in the number of participating companies but also a greater diversity in the job roles offered. While there was a decline in management consulting offers, niche consulting offers increased significantly. We also saw an increase in hiring by conglomerates and domestic firms.”
