CAP IIMs Cutoffs Increased! Here's how much you need now!

The candidate’s performance in CAT 2023 is the sole criterion for shortlisting for CAP 2024. Some key points to note about IIM CAP Shortlisting Criteria, as shared by CAP Coordinator Prof Maiti, are as follows:

- CAT 2023 cut-off is the only criterion for shortlisting for CAP 2024. According to the CAP Coordinator, 'Other parameters will not be used for CAP shortlisting.'

However, there is a catch! Earlier, the cutoffs for the general category used to be 92 percentile overall and 70 percentile as the sectional cutoffs. But, this year the cutoffs have been revised.

- IIM UDAIPUR, IIM KASHIPUR, and IIM RANCHI have released the revised cutoffs for the admissions for the batch of 2024-26. It is expected that other IIMs under the CAP process will follow soon. 

The increase in cutoffs is owing to the steep rise in CAT applicants this year! A staggering 2.88 lakh candidates wrote the examination in 2023, which has probably led the CAP committee to increase the cutoffs.

CAP 2024 Interview Process:

CAP 2024 will have online interviews. This will allow the candidates to participate from home and eliminate the need for in-person sessions in major cities. Prof Abhradeep Maiti, CAP 2024 coordinator and IIM Kashipur Admission Chair, mentioned that the committee is using online interviews to cut down on travel costs for applicants. Since, in CAP 2024, there won't be a WAT, the entire focus will be on the personal interview round.

Therefore, it is advisable for candidates expecting a call from the 10 IIMs to start their interview preparation right away!
