The origins of the Birla family fortunes lay in the second half of the 19th century, when in 1870 Seth Shiv Narayan Birla launched a cotton and jute trading business in the town of Pilani in Rajasthan, India. Despite the British occupation, and the attempt to establish monopolies by the British trading companies, Birla succeeded in building the family's first fortune. It has also played a major role during the struggle for freedom and emerged as India's leading industrial group despite challenges in Indian economy. Since then it has had great impact on our lives. It provides a wide range of products and services without which our life would be a lot different. Starting from the Ultratech cement which has given us our homes to Vodafone Idea Cellular Telecom operator which has been connecting people across the world. Hindalco industries which is a subsidiary of Aditya Birla group caters to the top-end technologically advanced market sectors, producing premium sheet and foil products for high-value applications in automotive, transportation, packaging, construction, industrial products and printing. Life is not a calm stream of water but a river which crosses the path of twists and turns. My river of life has been something like this and there was a lot of struggle and learning in every phase. One such phase started when it was the placement season in my engineering college and I was not able to sit for interviews because of medical issues. That was a tough time and I tried online portals as well as off campus placement pools after my graduation was completed. It was not easy because of the increasing trends of unemployment. There were very less vacancies and a lot of aspirants. Luckily, I got selected in one multinational IT company through an online portal. I was waiting for the joining in the company and suddenly after 4 months I got the email that they don't have business needs. It was disheartening, and I lost hope. Then it was the first time that I wrote for the CAT examination because I had always wanted to pursue MBA. Though it didn't go well the first time, I decided to prepare again for the exam very seriously. The time for preparation was full of ups and downs with a lot of mixed feelings of motivation, inspiration, anxiety, worry, demotivation, etc. However, the exam went well this time and I had a ray of hope with me. Fortunately, I got the call from the best bschools in India and now I am a part of one of it.
