Every college going aspirant has a dream to work in his favourite field after his studies. As a mechanical engineer, I also had an ambition to work in automotive designing. With decent grades in the graduation, experience of fabricating automobile in college events and a dream in my eyes, I was all ready to face the corporate world and to go and get it. But, one does not value things that they get easily. My way, fortunately, was the hard way to reach the goal.

I had got the first interview with a company very soon after I passed out from the college. All set for the interview, I was all excited and a bit nervous about it. It all went well inside, I was optimistic about the interview, unaware of the first setback coming my way. I could not make it through the interview with the reasons unexplained. As a fresher, it was a big blow for my self-confidence. But, not letting it get over my head, I started analysing the mistakes I could have made. After all the analysis, I made out a plan to work upon my mistakes and sharpen my strengths. I was applying to the companies alongside. After a wait for 2.5 months, I got another interview call. I was cautious this time, telling myself not to repeat the mistakes, which I thought are the ones, and have a diplomatic approach towards it. Same as the first experience, it all went well, this time with not letting myself have any hopes, I came home. And the waiting period started. As they say, not all the things in the world are in your hands, I called to the interviewing organisation, after a wait of 1 month about the result. The response shook me to the core. I could clear the interview, but they no longer had vacancies there due to a loss in their business. I was there, but not literally there. Without losing hopes, I started applying to the companies. 7-8 months had passed after I finished my graduation. Stress had started building over me. And suddenly one day, I got a call from Faurecia India Pvt. Ltd. For a post of design engineer. I was happy about it. Unlike the previous times, I told myself just to be myself and not stress out in the process. I cleared all the rounds there and the result was announced on the same day. I had report to the company the coming Monday. I was going to be the design engineer. This is what I had dreamt of!

It was all about persistence and patience for me. I had to be strong in my bad days. Of course, I had my family to support me whenever required. I had opportunities in other fields to work into, but they wouldn’t have given me the satisfaction of work that I got here. I just had to be myself and that is what I improvised and adapted in me to overcome my failures.
