Part A

Aditya Birla Group is one of the biggest conglomerates, not only in India, but across the globe. They have market their presence across 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees. Aditya Birla group has been one of the companies that both drive Indian economy as well as employment. Their contribution to the Indian growth and market presence has been enormous. Not only being one of the most revenue generating establishments in the country, ABG have been actively involved in translating their revenues to social and economic causes by contributing to the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and helping uplift the needful.

As citizens of India, it is inevitable to avoid the presence of Aditya Birla Group in our lives. The first notable interaction of me with the conglomerate was when I was introduced to the telecom industry. Getting a phone during my early adolescent years got me connected to whoever I needed to be in touch with. It made studies and travel so much more comfortable. Idea cellular Network was where the trust was, in terms of pan India reach and seamless connectivity. The idea of getting India connected just revolutionized the nation in every way possible. I contribute the growing startup culture and the advancements of technologies available to the common people of India to the cheap and easily accessible Internet network, a major portion of which came from Idea.

Being a management student, I understand the need of smart looks and first impressions. Content without attention cannot do anything. And to gain the right attention, it is important to be presentable. ABG’s companies like Allen Solly, Peter England, Van Heusen and Louis Phillipe provide us an exclusive range of products in optimal price ranges. I vow all the formal clothing purchased by me as a courtesy of the Aditya Birla Group.

Coming back to building India, Ultratech cement, a subsidiary of the ABG is no less than the backbone of the growing India. With production of raw material for construction that is used in pan India, and is crucial to hold the strengths to sustain the daily wear and tear, Ultratech cement becomes one of the most trusted brands for cement in India. This comes from an engineer who has worked closely with my fellow batchmates in Civil engineering. The trust that a cement brand should hold is incomparable, afterall lives depend on it. And ABG has provided the trust to every Indian citizen through their products in all aspects, ranging from merchandise, cement, telecommunications, Life insurance and an endless list of other products.

Part B

Being born and brought up in an orthodox family in the city of Kanpur, the script for my early years of education and exposure were written by the society, The only choice given to me was between medical and engineering. The sight of blood got me to lose consciousness. So, engineering it was.

The most formidable years of my education were spent with my feet on wheels. Starting the day with school, and rushing directly to coachings for IIT-JEE, my creative instincts fell somewhere on the way while I was trying to juggle a 28 hour day. Never did I get a chance to ask myself, is this really what I want to do in life? Do exceptions in Inorganic chemistry and formulae in string elasticity actually intrigue the me in me? But who gave us time to really pause and think.

IIT happened, and happened miserably for me. No surprises for me, but a massive setback for my family. But I still didn’t have a choice, afterall engineering was what society had decided for me. So, I got admission into JAYPEE, one of the top second tier colleges, great for engineering but never as good as IITs. I knew by now that my calling was for something else. The next 4 years were going to shape my life, and this was one place where the society wasn’t monitoring every step that I took. I interacted with people, tried different things, volunteered to manage fests, skipped sleep for things that I liked doing. Juggling studies wasn’t that hard now, as I was involved in things that instigated the creative side of me. The hands-on experience in managing people and events, being responsible for events that create an impact on every student in the college, all of this gave an essence to my life that I was looking for. This is where I decided to take full control of my life.

Post college, I took a job at one of the top multinational companies. The idea was to expose myself to the real world. My experience in college was great to impact a batch of 4000 people, but I still had a long way to go to generate impact among millions of people. 3 years of working in the company, I got to understand various aspects of the business, customer value and what creating a difference actually means. I was now ready for the next step, a degree in management so as to understand the nitty-gritty of the trade.

Starting from having no individual opinion about my own life, now I stand at a place where I see myself making decisions that impact millions of people. I took my life from its reins at the right time, and carved my way ahead, tackling difficulties with a determined mindset and an open outlook.
