Part_A: Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?

Aditya Birla Group is one of the first names that comes to my mind when I think of Indian Conglomerates that have made it large in the entire world. It has such a wide range of its operations in the whole world that it is spread across 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide with a revenue of approximately US$44.3 billion in the year 2018. However, ABG is not only about making money but it also adheres itself towards sustainable development of the weaker sections of society and upheaving the country’s human development index.

This group hasn’t just made it large in the world but has touched many lives including mine.

Firstly, a large share of the copper requirement of Indian Railways is fulfilled by Birla Copper

Secondly, I am easily able to contact my family and friends and use high-speed 4G internet services provided by Vodafone Idea Limited. Also, on 31 August 2018 Idea completed its merger with Vodafone India and thereby became the largest telecom company in terms of subscribers and revenue, surpassing Airtel.

Thirdly, as an MBA student, I require a lot of formal wear and when I think to buy these formal clothing these brands came to my mind like Allen Solly, Peter England, Van Heusen, and Louis Phillipe. These brands provide me with an exclusive range of products and that too at decent prices.

Fourth, as I was working in Pune far from my home the thing that keeps my chapatis fresh and hygienic was Frewshwrapp Aluminum Foil of ABG.

Fifth, ABG has taken various social initiatives towards our country as well as our society. It has established various Birla temples in India with magnificent and aesthetic architectural designs. Its CSR initiatives in Healthcare, Education, Livelihood, Infrastructure and its endeavor in making model villages is indeed making our society better. The Group is also acting responsibly for its actions which will impact the future generations and has thus rightly taken Sustainability into account. This is how the Aditya Birla Group is big in my life.

PART_B: How have I overcome challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?

During my engineering journey, I faced with was a challenge, no strings to engineering though it came up to be difficulty like no other, no doubt It's a memory that boosts my blood and head as I reminisce around it. It was the time in my 2nd year of engineering, CTAE, a college in my home town. It was my birthday, we were to celebrate with a group outing. A friend, a girl had a sudden breakdown, no understanding of what had happened appeared to be known. She was crying hysterically. And I could not understand. Later I came to know that she suddenly had her menstrual cycle, with no sanitary napkins at her disposal. She was too shy to say something or to purchase a packet for herself. Helped by other girlfriends she got out of the situation. Later I also came to know from one of my girlfriends that she carried a whole lot of pads with her for the whole year from her home as she was too shy to buy one.  Not only her, but it was also a very common practice among many girls.  This came as a shock to me. This made me think, why is it still a taboo for so many girls?

So in the 3rd year of college, when an opportunity came up to us to intact a Nukkad Natak, an idea popped into my head that why not use this to talk about this problem in public. We decided to raise some topics like menstrual cycle and myths related to it, child sexual abuse, homosexual relationships, and sexually transmitted diseases.

The road from the idea to the real event was a pebbled porous path. The troubles started with gathering a group to making people chant words like PADS, CONDOM, SEX. It was taboo!!

The biggest nightmare was to find girls who would participate in this dark cult, as we were called in college. The political scenario in our college gave no help or hope. Some brave souls did manage to discover the courage in them, get out of their comfort zone and speak with us. The constant fear of commotion and fights from political groups and opposers had no niggle.

On the day of judgment, we called it a joke later. We played our parts, the audience flowed with our emotions, for some it was their life as it is and for others, a new ray of common sense had struck them. A standing ovation from judges and the crowd left us proud and teary. We had given the universe something, so tiny but a chance had struck the campus and I can now proudly say that I have risen for that challenge and completed it.
