ABGLP WOO ME COMPETITION

PART A

It’s very hard to contemplate on the vastly grown reach of Aditya Birla Group in the past 162 years, since its inception, especially in India. They have atleast 47 big brands tied up under their belt, with some popular ones such as Pantaloons, Peter England, Ultratech Cement, and Van Heusen. They have established their footprints in myriad sectors like metal, cement, textiles, chemicals, fertilizers, financial services and IT sector.

Being a person who likes movies and music, the fashion industry has grabbed hold of my eyes, where the impact of Aditya Birla group is glaringly conspicuous. I must have lost my count on how many times, I must have bought clothings from Louis Philippe and Allen Solly. Undoubtedly, the revenue generation of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited does rest of the talking. It reached a landmark by achieving a revenue of Rs. 7181 crores in March 2018, becoming India’s first billion-dollar pure-play fashion powerhouse.

And the scope of Aditya Birla Group goes on.

Being an engineer, I have always kept myself abreast of the growing tech market, and the expanding arena of manufacturing , construction and IT in India. Ultratech Cement being the largest manufacturer of cement in India, has the hegemony in the construction business capturing 80% of the total market share in Indian cities and towns. Less to say, Utratech cement has and will continue to keep the Indian structures firm and strong for many more years.

Nevertheless, it surely must not have been a cakewalk to achieve such a stupendous glory, and become a leader in businesses. Right since the incorporation of Grasim only a few days after India got independent, Aditya Birla group has kept setting the benchmarks. Soon after that, industries like Hindalco and Indian Rayon Corporation got incorporated, and ABG entered the industrial sector with a strong impact. No turning back from that, ABG began spreading it’s arms in chemicals, petroleum setting up plants abroad, holding a position of dominance in each sector.

And ABG reached huge milestones from achieving highest share values, market share, to forming the largest fashion industry and telecom service provider. Notwithstanding with its stakeholders it was awarded the AON BEST EMPLOYER AWARD in 2018.

All in all, with a mighty revenue generation of $44.3 billion in 2018 and a presence of 35 countries in all, with over a lakh employees, it surely is among the best organizations to work with.

PART B

What can be more disheartening than to know that you have an ailment for life, which can never be cured.

So was the case of mine. At the age of 14, when I got detected by psoriasis, my life changed within a fraction of seconds. To live a life, while your skin scalps all the time, it has till now and always will interfere with my day to day activities, day and night, awake or sleeping.

Appearing my 10th exams, 12th exams, engineering entrance exams all with a dry itchy skin, was no less than a challenge for me. But, it has never been the same. With good ointments, there is always a way to attenuate the sensation for a few hours, only to realize that it has retreated again.

Through the years, suppressing my autonomous bodily tendencies has been a big challenge. One known fact about psoriasis is that, the less one thinks about it, the less effective it becomes.

This is one big lesson for me.

There are even more flaws in me, some can be worked upon, some are better to ignore.

Thankfully, psoriasis has taken the backseat in my life for now, credits to my subconscious, effect-oriented approach. I follow my intuitions whenever I could. If a place doesn’t feel nice, I won’t go. If a food item doesn’t feel good to me, I do not eat. If I want my skin to not scalp, I meditate to keep myself calm. I start working out if my lackadaisical attitude takes a toll on my skin. I start studying, when playing computer games put a lot of stress on my body.

I may have psoriasis, and it would go only with my demise, but it has taught me several crucial lessons in life. I live a much better life than I used to, just with a pinch of salt ever once a while.
