Part A: Aditya Birla Group: 8th wonder of 21st century
Aditya Birla Group is India’s one of the largest conglomerates having presence in more than 35 countries. It is present across various industries like fibres, metals, telecom, chemicals, fertilizers, insulators, financial services, carbon black, BPO, branded apparel and IT services.
With such a huge brand portfolio, hardly there will be an individual who would not have come across any Aditya Birla Group’s product. With brands like Pantaloons, Hindalco, Peter England and Vodafone-Idea, Aditya Birla Group has made a place in everyone’ life. The 10 year old memory of my home’s construction site filled with Ultratech cement is as fresh as it happened yesterday. The wide range of clothing line comprising of brand names such as Peter England, Louis Philippe has become my first choice to buy formal or casual clothes. The group is also providing diversified financial services via Aditya Birla Capital. It has many mutual funds which is helping many Indians realize their financial goal without knowing the knitty gritty of finance. It is also providing services on both lending and borrowing side.
I feel Aditya Birla Group has increased all individual’s lifestyle in an unimaginable way be it with one of the best cement brands of India or through various clothing lines or via one of the largest telecom companies or impacting the society via CSR activities in healthcare, education, sustainable livelihood programs and model villages. The way group has made progress from architects of independent India to becoming a global power house across industries has made it clear the importance of group in people’s life.
Part B: Challenges: A stepping tone
The way Aditya Birla Group has impacted our culture is unimaginable. It has taught us to have immense strength and self believe in order to concur an obstacles that can come in our lives. One of the toughest challenge that I faced in recent years was when I was preparing for MBA Entrance tests.
I started preparing for MBA entrance tests during my undergrad. At that time I could not get into my dream college so I decided to take up a job and prepare along with it. With 12 hours job and preparation of Chartered Financial Analyst and MBA exams has occupied most part of my life. Needless to say, the social life was zero totally. I used to prepare on weekends whereas my other friends used to go out. In the first attempt while working, I scored a good percentile and managed to get calls from few of the top 10 colleges of India, but to my utter surprise, I could not convert the colleges in which I wanted to get into. So I decided to appear for the exams once again. This time I secured calls from the most of colleges. And after gruelling process I ended up getting into IIFT, Delhi-India’s best b-school in International Business.
This process has brought out my potential in ways I could not have thought of, had I not gone through it in the first place. The one thing that I learned through it is that when life throws lemon at you, you should make a lemonade.
