With a PhD in Production Management from the University of Mumbai, Prof. R. Sesha Iyer has taught at Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering for over 21 years. With an M.Tech degree in Production Engineering, he started his career as an engineer for HMT Limited in the year 1970. But, the teaching bug bit him in the year 1985 and he eventually became the Principal of Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering. He joined as a Director of S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) in the year 2007 and continued till 2015.
Years of rich experience and firm knowledge of the concepts made him the students' favourite at SPJIMR. He makes his classes interesting by giving “examples from his own life and experiences” and uses “humour” to make it lively. Students have responded saying Prof. Iyer is a very ‘down to earth’, ‘fun-loving’, ‘unique’ person, which makes him ‘highly effective’ and ‘approachable’ as a mentor.
In his praise, a first-year SPJIMR student said that “he makes the lectures engaging and fun with his anecdotes and wit, which in turn help students solve problems in the class easily”.
Dr R. Sesha Iyer is currently an adviser to the Dean and a clear favourite among his students.

About the InsideIIM Professor of The Year competition:
While attending a class you might feel the sudden urge to check your phone chiming a notification, saying your crush has just accepted your friend request. You would probably neglect the professor for a while to sneak your phone out too. The professor, teaching in class, might look like the least important aspect of your life at this moment.
But, when faced with a business challenge, you would immediately go back to the teaching of that particular professor in your class. A mumbling thanks would naturally come on to your lips.
Hence we at InsideIIM decided to give an opportunity to students across MBA campuses in India to openly talk about their favourite professors and let others know how their contribution is making a significant impact to their respective lives.
Enthralled by the overwhelming 1000+ responses we received from MBA students across Indian business schools, we decided to share the names of all the professors with the highest number of votes from different B-schools.
