Truth Bomb Alert! In my 22 years of survival on this planet, at every stage where important decisions had to be made except for the decisions such as which school to go to, what to wear, where to vacation, what to eat, i was the one who made those important decisions. The point i am trying to make with this little piece of information is that i never held somebody's hand while taking those decisions, i never had my parents influence the decisions i made, to be very frank i just followed my heart and i turned out just fine. Now the irony of this is that i am supposed to write about being a mentor to someone when infact i have never had one. But i have a clear idea of how i would want to support someone.

Having had a stint at my Summer Internship, I can safely say I can guide someone with the little experience I have had.

Let’s begin with how to prepare for the interview for the company I interned for. At IndianMoney.com people besides Relationship Managers and the Wealth Doctors should be highly driven and hardworking. They should be willing to give their all to the company. The reason why I say this is because it is a growing company and now is the time that it needs its employees’ full attention and dedication. So if you are willing to let go of some short vacations and binge-watching shows, then this is the ideal place for you. Cracking the interview will be a piece of cake if you are qualified for the job in the true sense. You should be thorough with your concepts and knowledge.

After having cracked the interview myself and having worked there for 2 months, I can look back and say that those were some good times. I got to learn so much. Being a fresher one sometimes gets the feeling that they are not as good as the others, not as competent as the others, but after the internship I feel so much more better about myself and that is what counts.

Work at the internship had its highs and lows throughout the two months. Some days were hectic and other days would give me a bit of a breather. But at the end of it all I felt great because I helped them in creating Job Descriptions and Training and Learning Manuals.

I made some really good friends during my internship journey. But I would like to give a special mention to my Company mentor who made me immensely comfortable at the office since he knew it was the first time I had ever worked at one. My mentor was the best guide I could have asked for. I spent almost 6 weeks with him to make manuals for his department. He made those 6 weeks so fruitful. We had the best brainstorming sessions, with a side of political discussions which we enjoyed more than anything. He gave me advice and suggestions for my future. He was my guiding guru, he was my first ever mentor in life and he has raised the bars pretty high.

At the end i would just like to people like me who never had a guiding hand in their life, it is completely alright to be the sole decision maker, just as long as those decisions make you happy and content, there is nothing to worry about. When the time is right, you might also get a mentor just like i did, but till then BE YOUR OWN MENTOR!!
