As an MBA Candidate, I believe everyday, there is a new learning. Not only from your professors, but your peers make a lot of value addition to your knowledge bank as well. And the best part, goes without saying is, NETWORKING. It is the best platform to learn, unlearn and relearn. Sitting for the Summer Internship Processes, was an interesting experience for me. You get to understand and introspect about your own self. You understand your own competencies and weaknesses, and every time thrive to be better, better and finally the best. Not only it gives you a better understanding about your own-self, but eventually you also start understanding what the person on the other side of the table, the interviewer, is really looking in you. And then you try to be as flexible as possible to make the interviewer realize ‘Why you?’. And the story does not end here, it makes you stronger and confident. It makes you understand that it is ok to get rejected at times, because not every place and everything in this world is meant for you. My motto throughout was constant, that, whatever happens, happens for a good reason; and so, there should be no looking back. We must always consider our rejections, as an opportunity to grow and not to take a step back.

The only mantra to get through any interview process is being confident and clear. By being clear, I mean there should be an absolute clarity of thought. You must know why you are sitting here and what are you really aiming for. A clueless person cannot land in a company he/she is really aiming for. Not only this, you have to prove your mettle. You have to make the interviewers know that what benefit will company have selecting you. It should be understood, that working in a company always calls for a two-way benefit. It should benefit them, as well as, you, and that is what you have to prove sitting in an interview. It is ok if you lack in some technical knowledge, but if you have that willingness and urge to learn, and work for a mutual benefit relation, nobody can stop you from getting what you want, and that is what the game is all about.

I interned at 92.7 BIG FM. It sounds fancy, and trust me, it was. I was working in the Media & Entertainment industry, where I got to network and learn from a wide range of people. My project was on Leveraging Current Trends in Talent Acquisition. In my project, I worked on a couple of projects,

  • Digital Job Descriptions
  • Adding new wings to the already existing social media platforms to reach the relevant target audience
  • Gamification
  • AI in Recruitment + Chatbots

Hence, my internship gave me a lot of valuable take-aways, which I call it as my BIG Bag of Learnings. My project was never limited to the above mentioned 4 points, I got to interview well-qualified and experienced people for certain strategic positions in the organization, I got to network with people holding huge positions of responsibilities in the company. And most interestingly, I got to understand the nitty-gritty of how a show goes on-air.

All this was not possible without the assistance of my mentor, Ms. Ridhi Menon, who is lead Talent Acquisition and Business Partner HR-North. She is vibrant and full of creativity. She helped me in widening my horizons, and help me think out of the box for the good of both. She was all ears to all my problems that I faced during implementing any of my projects, as well, a constant support to me.
