The SJMSOM interview process completely stood out from the remaining interviews that I had attended for admissions to different colleges. The admissions team made use of an online platform called Gather. Everyone had an avatar of their own choice on the platform allowing to walk around and talk to other people. The platform reminded me of the days I used to play Supermario.
Coming to the interview part, the panel consisted of three members. Some questions were the typical ones expected and there were a few I had not expected at all. It started with the introduce yourself part. Then the questions like why MBA? why not PhD after an M.Tech.? Answered these as it used to be asked in almost all the interviews I had attended. In the technical area, they asked me questions from Materials science as my M.Tech. was in the same specialization. Questions like what is martensite? what are the new trends in the field? what are the ores of iron? etc.. were asked. Then came the questions which I was not expecting at all. The questions were, what is the percentage of pineapple exported from Vazhakkulam? (Place near to my native) what are the other main places from where pineapple is exported in India? who is the finance minister of Kerala and his constituency? (Knew the answer for the first part of this question). Three neighbouring districts of the district where you come from face an issue now, what’s that? I couldn’t answer most of the questions asked at last and I was a little worried about the results, but I made sure to keep calm. It was one of my best interview experiences.
Final Result: Got selected to SJMSOM in the first list.
