I would like to start off by saying that this was by far the most organized interviews I have given, in terms of their management, preparation and post interview experience. First, when we registered ourselves, we were provided the link for Gather, an online software adopted by the college for interviews this year. This provided each of us with bot avatars and we were invited on the virtual platform for our interview. Each waiting group was managed by an adcom member clearing our doubts at every stage. The seniors were very helping and created a great relaxing environment. We got to interact with our peers in the waiting room as well. Then we were taken for our document verification process. As we returned from the verification room, we were being order wise called for the interviews. When our turn came, we were escorted to the interview room, where the interviewers allowed us into the zoom call after a short break.
Also, here I would like to point out that when I say that we visited separate areas for document verification as well our interviews, we were literally supposed to go from one room to another by toggling our avatars movements through the arrow keys! This was a one-of-a-kind experience that I got to see only at IITB.
My interview comprised of a panel of 3 people, one of whom was the faculty at IITB. The interview started of a bit conventionally with the introduction, but very soon they switched gears. After my introduction, straight away I was asked about my interests and hobbies following which I was asked about my stream specialization preference and the reasoning behind it.
The interviewers were of an inquisitive nature and properly grilled me around all my answers to see whether I was spinning webs just to impress them or I had valid reasons to justify my answers. There was a discussion on the budget, my views on privatization of various sectors and many more. Though the interviewer even told me that he did not really agree with my point of view, he never pressurized me to change my stance but just explain it in more detail. The interview lasted for around 12-15 minutes after which they wished me luck for my future endeavors and let me go.
I came out tensed thinking only about how I had performed and whether what I told made sense to them or not, but now having converted the call, I can say “It went great”.
