Due to this ongoing pandemic, all B-schools conducted their interviews virtually allowing students to appear for interviews of every premier B-school of the country. My interview at SJMSOM was scheduled for 5th March in the afternoon slot. By that time, I had already given several interviews in Zoom or Google meet platform, but the SJMSOM interview was undoubtedly the best of all. It was completely a unique and exciting interview experience.
Few days before the interview we received a mail regarding our interview procedure and there we got to know about the “Gather” platform on which interviews will be conducted. The mail was sent to make us acquainted with this amazing platform. Gather is a unique virtual engagement platform in which tiny avatars of users are created and they can navigate through the campus virtually through keyboard arrows. It was almost like an offline interview experience.
Initially, we were divided into groups and each group was led by a member from Adcom. Adcom members guided us to our table on the platform. From there onwards, one member was taken to the interview room and one to the document verification room simultaneously by moving our tiny avatars. After giving interviews, members could share experiences with their respective groups. During the whole process Adcom was really supportive and interactive, even briefed us about panelists before the interview.
My interview had three male panelists: one professor from SJMSOM, one professor from IIT Bombay, and one SJMSOM alumni. My interview started with a basic ‘introduce yourself’ question. Then it mainly revolved around my work experience at Hindustan zinc and business use cases of projects completed by me at work. Few questions were from stock market and operations management topics like Lean, Six Sigma, etc.
Result: I converted SJMSOM, IIT Bombay and I’m really excited for this journey.
