I woke up on a lovely morning after having a good night sleep inside the protective walls of my house. I freshened up, took a shower and got ready in my Louis Philippe suit for IIM Ranchi interview process. I had a sumptuous breakfast, and my mother packed my lunch in Freshwrapp. I left for the interview venue. On my way to the venue, I crossed a Pantaloons store, crowded with people with smiles on their faces. I reached the venue and had an awesome interview.
While I was on my way back home, my mother called me on my Idea cellular number and asked me to get some groceries. I went to the More Supermarket, which was near my house. As I was buying the groceries, I came across an old friend of fine. It was after a very long time that I was meeting him. We talked for some time. He told me about the Aditya Birla Group Scholarship, which he received for his higher studies. After getting the groceries, I reached home. My mother reminded me about my sister’s birthday, which was in the next two days. I was supposed to get her a gift which I forgot. I immediately opened the Abof app on my cellphone. To my utmost delight, the app had great offers on apparels. I ordered a beautiful t-shirt for her with the scheduled delivery on the very next day. That saved me from the wrath of my mother and sister. It was later in the evening when my father came back from work. He told me about the research he had put into while deciding the insurance provider. After due diligence, he had decided to go ahead with Birla Sun Life insurance. We had dinner, and we went to bed. This was a typical day in my life.
Be it UltraTech cement, which was used in the construction of my house or be it my Louis Philippe suit, which enhanced my confidence; From Freshwrapp to Pantaloons store; from Idea cellular network to More Supermarket; from the Abof app to Birla Sun Life insurance, the presence of Aditya Birla Group in one’s life is inevitable. From dawn to dusk, each portion of our day sees the direct or indirect presence of Aditya Birla Group in our lives.
Life is a journey, and it is this journey which teaches you the values which define you the person you are. I was born and brought up in a small village in Bihar. As the educational prospects were not that good, I had to move to Jamshedpur for my studies at a very young age. I have been studying in a Hindi medium school in my village before getting an admission in one of the best schools in Jamshedpur. The school affiliated to ICSE board. The mode of communication was purely in English. Moving to a new city at a young age, away from my family, joining a purely English medium school at a time when constructing even a single sentence in English was a herculean task for me, were some of the biggest challenges I had ever to face. However, the zeal to excel, learn new things and the feeling of making my parents proud, always kept me going. I worked very hard to learn the language and excel in other subjects. I learnt that there is no substitute for hard work. The Commitment was the key to moving forward. Moving to a new place, in a completely new environment, taught me to be adaptable. Facing those challenges made me a better and stronger person.
I joined an engineering college in Bhubaneswar for my undergraduate studies. I came across people
who were from different parts of the country, with different lifestyles, cultures and perspectives, this introduced me to the idea of ‘Inclusion’. I studied computer science engineering and developed a Passion for programming. It was this passion due which I could learn a lot and was able to clear all the rounds of interview for one of the biggest MNCs.
I joined the organisation as a software product developer. The work required Seamlessness and Speed to respond to the ever-changing market. I learnt that you have to be fast and efficient to stay relevant in the market. The responsibilities increased with the experience, and as I moved up the corporate ladder, I understood that all my decisions should be in a manner which is fair and honest. The only way to do this was to deliver me with the utmost Integrity.
The journey of my life taught me the values, namely commitment, passion, seamlessness, speed and integrity. These are the same values which drive Aditya Birla Group’s mission and vision to become a reality. Having Joined Indian Institute of Management Ranchi for my MBA, I have come across the bunch of brightest brains in the country with most diverse backgrounds, cultures and academics. This has helped me to learn a lot and deliver myself as per best of my values with complete focus on learning and making this world a better place to live in with hard work, honesty and humility.
