“Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory.” -George S. Patton
Life is full of challenges. It is no fun if you sail through life without facing any challenges. It is the challenges in life that makes you a stronger person.
From my childhood, I was an introvert. Meeting new people and making new friends have been quite difficult for me, always. My father being in a transferable job, we changed cities multiple times. Making new friends again used to be my biggest fear in those days.
Slowly, I started realizing that I must get rid of this fear as this would hold me back in every step of life. I realized that getting rid of this fear is important to succeed in life. So I started developing my communication skills and slowly tried to get rid of the fear and hesitation in talking to new people. Initial days were tough. I used to think multiple times before talking to someone new.
Then, things started improving. I decided to complete my graduation in computer science. During engineering I started developing an interest for travelling. Travelling for me was like a way to meet new people. My fear had disappeared by then and meeting new people was no longer a challenge for me. When I started working after completing my graduation, my work involved a plenty of travelling – domestic as well as international. These trips, communication with the clients, contributed to grooming my personality more.
Now, when I look back and think about it, I feel that overcoming this challenge and working on the skills over the years has helped me to reach where I am today. This has also made me realize that nothing in life comes to us easily. We have to work hard for it. So work hard, overcome your fears and success will follow you.
