I recently came to situation where my work life balance was getting hampered. I was given a day in day out work to finish a certain project. Till the first few weeks things were running smooth and I was able to manage the work. But slowly back in my mind I was getting frustrated each day, as my regular schedules were getting tossed off. My “work and life” was just becoming “work and work” for me. I cannot ask my higher management to stop giving me more work because it was the situation not only for me but for them too. We need to deliver a very complex and delicate project in next month’s release.

To come out of this situation I thought of take some external help. But before that, I took help from my inner self. I knew it was the problem with the mindset. I tried focusing on things which are under my control. My mind was my in my control. It was him generating those negative thoughts which were leading to the feeling of frustration. So, I started finding my stress relievers. Whenever I feel like little low, I talked to many of my friends with some nostalgic memories. It gave me my inner piece of my mind. I started doing some meditation which in fact helped me to concentrate more. I just tried to keep my head cool in any situation, which altogether helped me know my better self.

The results were relay astonishing. Not only I finished my project well, I was awarded the best graduate hire of the year, Mumbai region. My inner strength helped me excel through my negativity and I achieved my ambition for putting a mark on IBM’s best employees wall.
