As a child I was always fascinated with father donning well-pressed pant and shirt every morning to attend his work. For me, it was like a knight in a shining armour who is ready to go out and conquer the world, and I also desired that soon I’ll also get to don that armour. As I entered my adulthood carrying the same image of my father going office, my instincts at any shopping centre and were to search for my shining armour, leading me to the stores of Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England and Louis Phillips.
There are more than ten brands which specialise in formal wear and this market has shot up on the back of increase in employable workforce as well as rise in per-capita income. Aditya Birla Group or ABG through their brands Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England and Louis Phillips have been able to offer unique designs, great quality without compromising on the affordability of middle class people like me.
I still remember wearing a Peter England shirt along with an Allen solly trouser for my first interview after graduation, even though I was unable to convert it, but the same pair came in handy when I cracked the interview for pursuing PGDM. For my sisters wedding, I got my first suit stitched from Van Heusen and have photos of that event which I’ll be viewing all my life. Somehow, ABG has been ominous in most of the major moments in my life and maybe brings some luck with it.
