Life hasn’t been a smooth road so far. It has been full of bumps, blocks and even the occasional pothole. I have spent so much time thinking about all the chances that I let pass away. I mourn for all the ‘I could haves’ and ‘I should haves’. Soon, I was stuck with the realisation that I was spending more time in my past than present.
What we usually end up forgetting is that life is a constant chain of trade-offs. We are here at this moment because of every choice we made. We sacrifice something to attain something else. And that, is the most truest thing in the world.
There is an opportunity cost that we bear for every choice we make. It will always be this or that. Not both. This applies to the big things and the small things. It applies to what college we choose and to what breakfast we eat. We could cry about the wasted opportunities or learn to appreciate the opportunities that we did take.
We are the choices we make. We are the choices we didn’t make. We are all of it and more.
It is also of crucial importance that we take our time and evaluate before making the choice. We need to ensure that we are doing justice to ourselves. It is going to be hard to let go of the other opportunities. We should focus on the value received and not the value forgone. It is all going to be worth it!
