“Failure is not fatal, failure is inevitable. If you don’t fail, it perhaps means you aren’t taking enough risks” – Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla.

The quote above is by one of the most successful businessmen, who has achieved great success.

We learn more from our failures than from our successes. Many such incidents help in shaping us as individuals. One such incident in my life was when I was 17 years of age. I was good at my studies since Kindergarten. I scored 90% in my tenth standard board exams and ended up taking science in eleventh standard. I worked hard to secure a seat in the top engineering colleges of the country. But, I fell prey to Coxsackie virus during 12th standard exams, which causes sores on hand, foot and mouth. My sores used to bleed incessantly for days. It was difficult to even hold the pen, let alone studying. I remained bed ridden for two weeks. I had my entrance exams a few weeks later. I was unable to sit, sleep, eat, etc. Somehow, I managed to take the exams. When the results were declared, I had not made the cut. I was deeply saddened, but I did not lose hope. I had already started preparing for the next year when I received the result of another exam. I had finally made it to a decent college, with a branch of my choice. I was elated after seeing the fruits of my efforts. The next four years were spent learning the nuances of Electronics and Communication, with the aim of making it to a top tier company. I scored good grades and got placed in a reputed organization, where I made a Big impact because of which I got promoted early.

This journey has made me realize the importance of failure and how much we can learn from it.
