Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?

Aditya Birla Group is a US $44.3 billion corporation and is the industry leader on a national and global level in many businesses. A multitude of brands is being held by the multi-national company across 14 different sectors. Some of the notable premium brands of ABG under the apparel sector are Louis Phillipe, Allen Solly, Forever 21, Ralph Lauren etc.

Being a huge fan of the American sit-com F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Ralph Lauren has always garnered my attention since Jennifer Aniston worked for the fashion clothing brand in the series. Getting to know that the brand is currently a part of the Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL) actually surprised me to a great extent. The brand identity which a company creates in the first few instances goes a long way in helping the customers associate themselves with the brand. Hence this was my first realisation of the scale in which the Aditya Birla Group operated.

Ralph Lauren Polo is the official outfitter of the Wimbledon, the premier tennis annual Grand slam event. I loved the way Ralph Lauren promoted their brand through the message “Wimbledon has always been about more than tennis. It’s a celebration of British hospitality and tradition—and getting dressed is all part of the game”.

My experiences with ABFRL have been through the brands of Louis Phillipe, Van Heusen and Peter England where I usually buy my apparels and accessories. The service offered by the employees, the appearance of the showroom, the quality of the fabrics etc. appeal to customers of all age groups and ethnicities and the company’s growth and market share over the past decade is the testament to the same.

Hoping for more such pleasant experiences from ABG!

How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?

I would like to narrate a story from my college days. It paved the way for me to understand how to approach a complex situation wherein you can either take an easy way out or work towards finding a viable solution for the problem. During my final semester, we chose our final project on the topic of design of machine elements. I had been given the chance to either carry on with a simple, routine project or try something new as I had mentioned earlier. We, as a team, had the confidence to choose the latter because we wanted to try out new ideas instead of sticking to older notions. Thus, we came up with an idea of creating a working model of a bicycle which can function as a gym exercise bike as well. There were numerous challenges that we faced during the course of project like limited budget constraints and how to translate the idea from pen to paper. Finally, the working model was created after a lot of revisions and suggestions. An article about the same was published in a local Tamil Weekly named ‘Ilaignar Malar’ recognizing our efforts. This has further instilled a lot of belief in me and has been a source of optimism to me. Something like a confidence booster. If you completely believe in what you do, then no matter what, it’ll fetch you the desired results and take you places. This incident still makes me believe that when you put your best foot forward then the results will follow automatically.
