Challenges are part and parcel of life. How one stands in the face of adversity is what sets one apart. Take for example the Aditya Birla Group, a company that has stood the test of time. 162* years to be precise. The kind of challenges and hurdles that the group and its employees would have faced is unfathomable. And yet they continue to stand tall and continue to inspire and impact the lives of millions of Indians.
As a young kid I was very inquisitive and more often than not was severely critical of the way things worked in the world. I refused to accept that people were different and were only pretending to be a certain way to move ahead in life. And this led to me having a very cynical view on life for a good two years of my life. This posed significant challenges in the way I interacted with people and the way I handled difficult situations. I would only look at the people and their reactions and never question the situation. I was naive and it was hampering a lot of events in my life.
And then as I started to mature, I started giving due credit to situations and how people only reacted a certain way because they were different and not difficult. This was me drawing parallels to the corporate world, where behemoths such as the Aditya Birla group faced issues like this on a daily basis and yet overcame such challenges and continued to flourish. This was because they believed in their people and the power of their people. This learning was something I immediately incorporated into my life and life has changed completely and for the better. I started believing that the world is how it is because the people are different and that's what makes such a wonderful place to live in.
