Before I share my experience regarding my interview at IIT Bombay SJMSOM, I would specifically mention that SJMSOM has the most seamless process before, during & after the interview. SJMSOM admission team instead of conducting interviews on zoom came up with an amazing gather platform which was really the out of box concept. The platform could bring us back to our childhood days when everyone would have played Mario video games. Everyone in the interview process ( aspirants & Adcom team) were having one Mario character & we need to navigate with the help of our keyboard control to go into the virtual auditorium, to attend document verification & to enter in to interview room. This experience was really special & unique.
Now coming back to my actual interview experience, when I joined the interview room all panelist had already turned off their video. The initial few seconds I was a little nervous because I was not able to see anyone face which was a little odd for me. The panels were consisting of one operation professor from SJMSOM & two alumni of SJMSOM. The interviews started with tell me about yourself which helped me to get settle down. Then initially operation professor asked about my prior work experience at L&T construction. I was able to convey my exact role & responsibilities which I handled pretty well. Then he continued the conversation by asking so you want to do MBA in operations? Then I answered, I am not sure but I would like to explore other fields also. To assess me further he put me into hypothetical question to explain 4 P’s of marketing to 10 years old boy. Somehow I was able to come up with a satisfactory answer.
Then one of the alumni asked me about the pump characteristic diagrams because I had a background of mechanical engineering & was handled the supply chain of pumps at the L&T construction site. At that point, I couldn’t explain exactly but able to convey that I have some basic understanding of pump characteristics. Then he further asked me questions about the Iorn-Carbon diagram for which I had already prepared & I answered with confidence & clarity. Finally, he asked me questions on Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, MP’s & MLA’s to assess my general awareness that also went well. Finally, my interview ended on a good note.
Result : Converted IIT Bombay, SJMSOM
