Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life
“Congratulations!” We are pleased to inform you that you have been provisionally selected for admission to the two-year Post Graduate Programme in management of IIM Ranchi”. I felt a chill when I read this mail. I was finally getting admitted to one of the best B-schools in the country. All the labour and sacrifices of the past two years were now paying dividends.
My journey to IIM Ranchi began in Pantaloons store of Select City Walk Mall in New Delhi. I had recently finished off my college examinations and was shopping in the Pantaloons store with few of my friends. Amongst the varied collection of clothes offered by Pantaloons, one of my friends’ casually suggested me to appear for CAT examinations. I took his advice and appeared for CAT in 2017.I secured 68 percentile and the period that followed was the toughest period of my life till date. I had never felt so low on confidence before.
I decided to appear for CAT again but this time with greater determination and focus. It was during this period that Aditya Birla Group became such a big and important part of my life. As I stayed away from my home to prepare for CAT, I always used to miss my family. It was Idea cellular network which connected me to my family. I could call my family as well as video chat with them whenever I missed them. Idea was the reason that I could connect with my family back then and even today after their merger with Vodafone, it is still the network which connects me to all my loved ones.
After this came the phase of going to tuition classes and giving mocks. Classes would go on for three hours and if there was a mock scheduled then I had to be in the coaching centre for the entire day. Aditya Birla Group once again came to my rescue. This time through Freshwrapp aluminium foil, it was the reason that I could eat healthy and fresh home cooked food even after being away from home for half a day.
Challenges faced
On the day of the CAT examination, I wore a new pair of Allen Solly shirt and jeans and the comfort which they provided was one of the many reasons why my CAT exam went well. Then came the results, I scored 94.68 percentile and received calls from most of the IIMs.
The night before the CAP interview was one of the most stressful nights of my life. I was nervous and scared but when I wore my Louis Philippe formal suit especially bought for the interview and stood in front of the mirror, it gave me sense of believe. A believe that I can stand with some of the great minds of my generation. I felt confident, I felt optimistic. I think that little confidence played a big role in my interview and it might be the reason why I am in IIM Ranchi today.
Aditya Birla Group is big in not only my life. It has spread smiles and worked for people throughout the world. It runs around 5000 medical camps and 20 hospitals and has already treated a million patients and immunised approximately 70 million children against polio. Along with this, it also operates 56 schools for around 46,500 school children and provides midday meals every day for 63,000 children. It can only be imagined how big Aditya Birla Group is in their lives.
Aditya Birla Group has truly played a big role in my life. From stocking of my wardrobe through Pantaloons and Allen Solly to connecting me to my family. From providing me healthy and fresh home cooked food anytime through Freshwrapp aluminium foil to getting me ready for my biggest interview in life. It has always brought smiles and joy in my life and continues to do so even today. I will always be thankful to Aditya Birla Group for making my life so much easier and comfortable.
