My journey started in Haryana and continued in a small town of Western Uttar Pradesh named Sikandrabad. Till tenth board results came, my journey was a breeze. I passed with flying colors, securing more than 90 percent marks in the tenth board exams- that used to be a pretty big thing- at that time.
The real twists started when I joined Delhi Public School for senior secondary education. Me, the guy who used to speak Hindi slang with aplomb rubbing shoulders with the English-speaking crème de la crème of our district? To add to that, for the first time, I could say that I was not the smartest person in the class Suffice to say, within three months of joining the new school, my confidence was shot. Rest of the eleventh standard was a struggle, by the end of it, though, I had made lifelong friends, and worked hard to regain my confidence.
After senior secondary exams, came the much coveted JEE and AIEEE exams. Despite my best efforts and dropping a year, I was unable to get a good rank. I joined Galgotias University for engineering and got placed in Infosys through there. It was after a comfortable year at Infosys that I got an urge to go for something bigger. I started preparing for CAT; through some luck and a whole lot of hard work, I was able to secure a good enough percentile score to get interview calls from prestigious IIMs. My journey has taken me on to IIM Ranchi, and I am excited to see where it takes me from here.
How Aditya Birla Group has made an impact on my life:
My first association with Aditya Birla Group was through their Birla white cement during renovations of our house. That was the end of that. In my defense; I was young and ignorant, and not in the habit of perusing cement packets to see who made them or where they came from. And so, the journey continued. I grew up; Aditya Birla Group advertisements continued on the TV. I never paid much mind to it. My first conscious interaction with Aditya Birla Group came when I was in the eleventh standard. I had picked PCM with computer science for senior secondary education and required an internet connection. The Idea netsetter I got at that time got me through my senior secondary, JEE preparation, and engineering.
One of the great things about Aditya Birla Group is that as one of India's biggest conglomerates, it is present everywhere. From homes to highways, from aluminum used in airplanes to insulation for power cables; ABG has made an impact in the lives of all the Indians one way or another. I have used Peter England and Pantaloons for my casual clothing needs. Van Heusen provided a much needed formal touch for my wardrobe, a necessity for any B-School student. Vodafone-Idea continues to provide quality communication. The common theme about all these? Yes, you guessed it right, they are all Aditya Birla Group brands.
Aditya Birla Group continues to be a constant companion in my journey, and I hope that our association remains strong as ever.
