During my under graduation in Computer Science, I got selected to work for a mobile application development firm in the field of Android Application Development. I was supposed to work in a team of three including me and other 2 software engineers from my college only. Our team was led by a Project manager who had about 5 years of experience in this field. We were supposed to work under him to learn coding in Java to develop Android applications.
Our project manager was a fairly experienced person, who was working in the field of mobile development since a long time and had moved to develop application on iPhone to expand his area of work. He gave us a book on Application development in Android to refer to. Initially, the training went smooth, but soon enough, he had to get married during that month, so, he took a leave of about 2 weeks. I was worried about the internship, but he told me that he will be back within 2 weeks and then training will go as smoothly as it has been going so far. He went to his town, got married but didn’t return after two weeks. After his marriage he had to go out of station for a month, he was too busy with his chores that he wasn’t able to find time to manage our work at the firm.
So, I took that situation as a challenge and decided to not let that affect my internship. I started reading the book myself and practiced everything that was written in it and taught my self how to develop Android applications. Not only that, I also helped my peers to gain understanding on the subject. I spoke with my project manager on phone and explained him the whole situation. He became very happy with our progress and asked us to make a sample Android application so that he may test our understanding in Android Application development.
When he came back, we gave him an Android Application, he tested the application and became happy with our progress. He not only praised me for my team spirit but also got the application uploaded on Google play store, live for customers.
