Being a fresher, it was tough to convert SJMSOM at my percentile. I knew I required an awesome interview to convert this call. And the chances of my interview going awesome were bleak. SJMSOM interviews have a good amount of technical questions by IIT Bombay professors, and answering them with unwavering confidence was something that I thought was not my cup of tea. Nevertheless, I prepared for this interview with all my heart as this was one of my dream colleges to do an MBA from.
Interview slots were allotted almost a week and a half before the interviews. I was allotted an interview on the final day of the admission process.
A day before our actual interviews, we were provided with the link to the Gather Platform to get us acquainted with the same. This was a superb initiative. Gather enabled the Admissions Team to provide an almost real-life experience of the selection process to all the candidates.
Interview Day:
The admission process began with an initial address by the Adcom member. The candidates were allotted separate rooms with different groups of candidates headed by an Adcom member. The Adcom members ensured that the entire process was hassle-free, starting from the document verification until the actual Zoom interview. The committee members were really friendly and ensured that we were calm and composed before the interviews. They even had the Tom & Jerry show on just to pacify us!
Well, as fate would have it, I was the last person to be interviewed in my slot. Yet, the panel did not seem tired at all. They were energetic and smiling throughout the interview. My panel had 2 alumni of SJMSOM, and a marketing professor of SJMSOM. Unlike other B-school interviews, the panellists here actually wanted to know me and gave me enough time to think and answer all the questions.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience. Kudos to the Admissions Team for giving us candidates the privilege of experiencing the offline interview process even though it was online.
Verdict: Converted
