Interview Experience @ SJMSOM
I was fortunate enough that I got my SJMSOM interview slot (7th March 2021 – AN) after completing few other college interviews. This gave me a little confidence as I have got familiarized with the Online Interview experience. The best part of the process is the use of “Gather Platform”. As a part of new normal, Admissions team might have decided to use this to make Creative and more interactive. This gave a positive mindset before the interview, and I could definitely say that it increased my probability of doing my interview better. We had chats with fellow candidates and Ad-com members. Meanwhile, there was a clear guidance to complete document verification. Though there was a wait time, this interaction has changed. My panel had one faculty and two alumni members. The panel members were chill, and we exchanged the greetings.
Introductory part:
I was asked to introduce. They have given me ample time and the panel were patiently listening to my story. After this we jumped off to my Work experience section.
Work ex part:
I briefed about my job description and responsibilities. Since I was based on the ADAS domain, the panel asked many questions. Since I am from Automotive Industry, they asked me on few common terminologies like working of ABS, advantages of ABS and what is the frequency at which they operate?
There were few follow-up questions as well regarding the supplier & sub-supplier management and I was asked to explain with examples. I hope they were convinced with my reply, and we moved on to general discussion. I was asked “Why MBA? & What are my short-term goals for next 5 years?”. I answered as prepared.
Academics part:
Then on academic section, they asked me to point some favorite subjects. I replied with the subjects that I am currently using in my job (Automobile Engineering & Advanced IC Engines). But I was asked basic definitions from Strength of Materials on the tospic Young’s Modulus of a Material, Strain. Since I have given an answer in not exact definition but just said what their significance in material, I was not asked anything further.
Finally, session closed with a question from my hobbies list. I was asked who will be hosting 2021 T20 WC?
I know it is India, but somewhere in my mind, I was thinking that I read as Sri Lanka and without giving a second chance I said Sri Lanka. I felt little embarrassed when I actually referred the fact. Its INDIA!!
(The panel were chill and did not ask beyond)
Then after the meeting in Zoom, I was taken back to Gather Platform. We exchanged our interview experiences with the fellow candidates and Ad-com members. We were also asked to submit the feedback for the interview process.
I could say that I had a best experience of attending an online interview in SJMSOM process. And I am glad that I have successfully converted in the final list as well :)
