A US $44.3 billion corporation, the Aditya Birla Group is in the League of Fortune 500. It has over 120,000 employees belonging to 42 nationalities. It operates in 34 countries across 5 continents and has over 130 state-of-the-art manufacturing units. ABG drives with the vision of being a premium global conglomerate with a clear focus on each business and with a mission of delivering superior value to their customers, shareholders, employees, and society at large. ABG is the largest Indian MNC with manufacturing operations in the USA and is the world’s largest recycler of aluminium. With over seven decades of business experience ABG has grown into global powerhouses in a wide range of sectors – metals, textiles, carbon black, telecom and cement. ABG is not only about making money but it also adheres itself towards social responsibility. It has also set high standards for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by diligently contributing to the social and economic aspects of the fragile sections of the society. So, in many ways, it has not only marked a huge impression globally but also helped in assisting many lives and my life is one among them.

There are many day-to-day routine activities that are linked with the ABG for me.

To start off, I am very keenly associated with ABG’s telecom venture Idea cellular. On 31 August 2018 Idea cellular completed its merger with Vodafone India and thereby became largest telecom company in terms of subscribers and revenue, surpassing Airtel. It ensures that we have a hassle-free to and fro communication with our family, friends, etc. In this modern world of technologies, the 4G internet ensures that we get uninterrupted internet connection which I believe is now one of the most essential requirements in our everyday life.

Second, being an MBA student, I am pretty well versed with the significance of formal wear and business formals. ABG’s companies like Allen Solly, Peter England, Van Heusen, Louis Phillipe, and Linen club provide us an exclusive range of products in optimal price ranges. I vow all the formal clothing purchased by me as a courtesy of the Aditya Birla Group.

Third, UltraTech Cement - India’s largest cement company - speaks for its volume. It has been a regularly and widely used cement for various construction works. UltraTech Cement has been the solid backbone for the construction of our house.

Fourth, Birla Carbon.  The versatility of carbon black is evident in its use throughout an automobile. Key to the manufacture and performance of tires – the largest application for carbon black – it is also used in everything from the engine compartment to interior components to exterior coatings.

This is how the Aditya Birla Group is big in my life.

How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?

A challenge is a call to prove, an opportunity to declare one’s eligibility for navigating life’s problems, an invitation for an intense engagement with one’s own fears and weaknesses. I have always had a burning desire to call a project my own. One day I took an initiative and pitched my idea of automating the testing process of microservices which results in the reduction of the delivery time of the project. The plan was approved on a condition that it should be done by the end of a sprint (3 weeks). As the plan entered reality, of course, there were a lot of hurdles. Since it was an extra task I had to work on this outside of my working hours. So it did consume a lot of my time as the task consumed a lot of time on research such as what kind of tools to be used? what language should be used? Whether to go for continuous integration? If so what will be the cost incurred for the company? And so on and so forth. As I started working on it for I had to work with the people from other teams for technical difficulties and that helped my networking in the company. I coordinated with senior-level people from other teams as well. In the end, it was done successfully. This accomplishment gave me experience and exposure to senior colleagues at an early stage in my career. That the partnership benefited both people and products makes it my most substantial contribution in a professional situation.  The risk-taking ability and the never give up attitude were my point of determination and motivation. Challenges helped me in shaping up my will power and perseverance traits. The most important part being they test our adaptability and toughness towards a disagreeable situation. The ideal reaction towards a challenge should be testing yourself so that you become a better version of yourself with each passing challenge and achieve ever newer heights.
