Star with the company's engagement and communication even before the internship started?
Answer->> As, When I received my offer letter from Phoenix Global, in which my role and all responsibility was mentioned, I still have 5 days in hand before joining. Before joining our joining formalities ate going in the background and for that I received each day a mail from phoenix Global, just like our login Ids and passwords, assigning manager and mentor for each intern, Explaining how to perform Assignment which will assign to me, how to report Managers and company sending work progress report each day by the 6 clocks in the evening. So like this way before starting My Summer Internship Journey I was communicated by the company.
On-Boarding and Induction Processes?
Answer->> On 6th April we all 20 interns are on-board, some of Interns are from IIMs, IITs, GIM, Great lakes, FSM Delhi, IIFT Delhi, MDI these were the colleges from where students are selected and put on-board, On my first day, I had a session with my team, followed by 1:1 connects with my manager (assigned for the duration of the project). All interns here are assigned a manager & a mentor for guidance and support. Then, all the interns had a session with the HR team. They informed us about all the essentials and gave a brief idea about how the 8-week internship will look like. There are regular HR connects to take care of any issues we might be facing. Also, there are regular Leadership connects where top leaders of the company interact with us and share their journey. I start my day by connecting with my team/ manager, which sets the tone for the day.
How did the company ensure that you have everything that you need to ace the internship? What are the practices that they follow to connect and engage with you and other interns?
Answer->> whenever any task was assigned to us, we were provided uninterrupted time to pursue it. A progress report at the end of the day was a mandatory part of the procedure. Our manager would always contact us personally to have an update on the task. Deadlines were needed to be strictly followed for submissions. Every week on Monday we had a review meeting with the team and board members and managers. The interns were always given an opportunity to share their learning experience during the task followed by which our managers would share the feedback for the same. By God’s grace, I never failed to receive a good response from my manager. His unconditional support always helped me whenever I got stuck. There are weekly fun sessions to promote team bonding. I am currently in the last of my internship at Phoenix Global and each day have been as exciting as the one before. It is rightly said that every day is “Day 1” here at Phoenix Global.
Stepping into the internship what were your expectations with regards to learning and growth? And, where they met?
Answer->> working here gives perspective on what needs to be done to be a successful company and what it feels like to work with the best minds in the country. Being a Start-up Company, learning here take place as a holistic experience, the easier, it becomes to take the whole team in the same direction. Nevertheless, even in these tough times, each employee here is giving more than 100% and countering the effects of this pandemic on business. Here, Mistakes are welcomed here, which helps us grow. Working for Phoenix Global provides a sense of satisfaction. It has been a great learning experience for me until now. I hope to end the internship on a high note!!
My manager told me that having the curiosity to learn new things is a crucial skill, and I was encouraged and appreciated for the same. The review sessions and feedback helped me to tweak my methodologies and improve further. I learned about the value of time management, the importance of to-the-point presentations, and respecting the time of others through the review sessions. Fortunately, I was appreciated for my research findings, their intricacy, and spot-on accuracy
What you feel about the current experience and how it is different than what you had in mind?
Answer->>the Company’s profile and its great team of leaders excites me to work with them on a full-term basis. They have a healthy environment where even the senior managers volunteer to help their subordinates. I can’t wait to learn more by working with them. There is no lack in the theoretical knowledge provided by our faculties but their practical implications can only be learned when we put ourselves out in the market. And a start-up company like this can give a huge exposure as compared to the established ones.
Describe your role for the internship or your project? Only if you can. Otherwise, skip this or describe the domain it is in.?
Answer->> I was assigned the Role of Analyst (Marketing) at Phoenix Global
My Job role was-:
· Skill Gap Analysis and Curriculum Design – IIMs, IITs, NITs and Others
· Competitor Analysis (Research)
· Clientele Pipeline Creation
· Offerings design and documentation
· Assist in Marketing Strategy Creation and Documentation – IIMs, IITs, NITs and Others
What have you learned in terms of concepts and soft skills? Would this learning have been different if it was an on-ground internship?
Answerà>the internship at Phoenix Global served as a perfect platform to enhance my existing skills and learn newer ones. The working culture taught me leadership skills and gave me insights into the skills that a manager needs to develop. The four major learnings were:
In order to compile reports, I learned content writing. My fellow companions also helped me with their precious inputs to bring fluency in my writing and in presenting my ideas better. My manager and mentor taught me the million-dollar skill of selling products during my task of dealing with clients. They taught me that communication is not solely responsible for selling anything in particular. The approach towards each client is equally important. I learned a lot about Competitors Analysis which was a prime part of my role as an Analyst. The last one was how to make a clientele pipeline for the company with a full report analysis. The benefit of a virtual internship comes from the assurance of being safe at home and that we are all with our families during these scary times. However, I believe that being on-premise would have helped build better relationships and I could have learnt more from conversations over coffee with senior leadership.
Selection Process and its details?
Answer-- >> The selection process of internship at Phoenix Global
Applying at D2C internship portal
Shortlisting of resume
Telephonic interview
D2C has a dedicated portal for jobs and internships. It makes it easier for students to explore diverse options on a single platform. My journey to the internship at Phoenix Global started by applying for an internship hosted by D2C.
The next stage for getting selected for the internship was shortlisting of resumes. Fortunately, my resume found a place in the selected list of students eligible for the interview. I was informed of the telephonic interview via an email and a call. The interview was conducted by Senior Manager and was short and crisp. After a day or two, I finally received a confirmation mail with an attached offer letter stating that I was selected for the internship as a Marketing Analysis Intern in their firm.
Other aspects the hat you have in mind?
AnsweràWork is better with some fun!!!! I feel it is okay to be a jack of all trades and master of none, and I am one of them. I try learning every possible thing and love involving in a variety of things. I might not be an expert in any of them, but if you would name a thing I would have pretty much done that.
Due to lockdown, there were no outings, social meets, or exploring the surroundings. But with work from home, all the interns managed to do a virtual get-together and enjoyed it. My colleagues were marketing enthusiasts and really creative. We built good friendships with various memories. One such memory is of a Boss lady, who had immense leadership skills and would never shy away from taking responsibilities. I am very lucky to work with such a lovely team and a great company.
