The Serenity of life is best understood only when surrounded by odds. But this is what makes life, a truly remarkable one.

A son of a farmer, carrying a month old baby, along with his wife, arrived to an unknown city. The man soon found a job in a dichromate production factory where he was assiduous in his duty. The owner was a connoisseur of character and discovered the man’s potential. He promoted him to a bigger role; but suddenly fate played its part. The factory was shut down because of the owner’s family dispute. The man and his family were again back to zero.

With very little money but desire to move things, the man started a small business of hardware material, where he used to purchase materials from wholesale market and sell it to the retailers. In the meantime, a new member joins the family (birth of younger son). The business made just enough profits to meet the family’s need.

Soon the kids got admitted into a nearby school. Family’s expenses increased, so did the pressure on the man. Each passing day was a struggle for everyone. The mother nurtured the kids in such a way that they grew up saving every penny to support and contribute from their end in every possible way. The school fee was one thousand/kid/year. Even then, the family had to think twice before spending. It was a test of time for the whole family.

Time is round, and it rolls quickly. The elder kid completed his tenth with flying colors. He got admitted in a college where his fee was minimal. This brought relief to everyone in financial terms.  HSSC Board exam also rushed soon and the kid cleared that as well. With decent score in AIEEE, the kid got admission in one of the finest engineering colleges in the city. With no money for the kid’s education, the man had to run to banks for loan. The kid studied sincerely. The only intention he had in his mind was to free his father and his family from all the financial troubles.

The Kid, who, by the end of his engineering, was a mature man, got placed in the very first chance, in one of the biggest and oldest construction companies in India. It was not the joy of his placement that made him happy, but the opportunity for him, to take charge and free his father from all the financial responsibilities he had been carrying out till date. He was on cloud nine that day. Within few months of his joining, he grasped an opportunity of overseas posting and his life took 360º turn. He started earning handsome and could finance a house for his family. He cleared all the loans and supported his younger brother in his education, who, a Chartered Accountant (CA) is working in one of the big four accounting firms now.

The elder kid in the story is me, now pursuing MBA from TAPMI and writing this story for all of you.

The story is not just about me and how I overcame challenges in my life, it is the story of my family because of whom, I am, what I am today.

“There is no doubt that it is around the family and the home that all the greatest virtues… are created, strengthened and maintained.” –Winston Churchill
