Note of Gratitude - TAPMI

As a B-School student, I was elated when I heard about ABGLP Woo me contest. It gave me an immense pleasure, when I had a glance on the ideas to be addressed in these two articles. I would not only consider this as an event. Rather, this is my thanksgiving note to the Aditya Birla Group.

My entire family was and still is dependant on my father’s income. He has been working in The Aditya Birla Group for the past 20 years. He was working as an electrician in Dharani Cements in a remote locality of Reddipalayam, Tamilnadu. He toiled relentlessly to manage the family by then. I still remember him saying, “I borrowed from our neighbours to manage the expenses when you were born”. His career saw a turnaround in 2000, when the cement plant was taken over by The Aditya Birla Group (Now called as Ultratech Cements). The managements were generous enough to offer employability to the old workers. He then was able to lead a successful life and effectively able to raise me to his best.

Quoting Nelson Mandela here, I would like to recall that “Education is the most powerful weapon one can use to change the world.” Hailing from a rural background, I was fortunate enough to begin my education in a CBSE school. I consider that to be a very crucial factor in the way I had my education. That gave me added advantage of sharing the classroom with students with diverse cultural backgrounds. I can still proclaim that I’m in a premium B-School now owing to my intense education that The Aditya Birla Public School gave me.

My article is not exhaustive if I start listing out the impacts made by The Aditya Birla Group in my life. But, I would feel guilty if I do not make a mention about the 100Mb for Rs.5 data package by Idea Cellular Ltd., back in those days. It felt like an eternal gift for many people I knew. All I wish is, keep making our lives beautiful, and see us reciprocating with ‘What an Idea Sirji!!’.
