In the year 2017, I graduated from engineering college and was introduced to the professional world in July 2017. Having secured a job offer from campus-placement, I had no idea of hardships that people sustained to land a job in the corporate industry. My education had prepared me academically, but I lacked in the real-world application of the concepts.

Nothing had prepared me for the iron-clad deadlines, learning on the job through multiple sources, adopting new technologies at a brisk pace, working with team members and constant evaluation through monthly and quarterly reports. When the going got tough I decided to do some self-introspection. I realized my strengths weren't applied in my current job-profile, but at the same time, I knew I hadn't extracted everything I could in the form of learning through that job.

Henceforth, I decided to think of a career rather than a job. I developed one day at a time approach, where I would perform to the best of abilities every single day keeping the bigger picture in mind. There were days where I couldn't fulfil my own expectations, but I kept in mind, this is a marathon, not a sprint.

When I got comfortable in my job, I started developing an interest in how the entire organization works. I found many interesting avenues and understood what kind of roles would fit me better in an organizational space.

As it is rightly stated, 'The leaders, who know themselves better, can be better leaders'. I took time in figuring out what skillset I would need to acquire the role I was aiming for in an organization ahead.

Taking a leap of faith, to quit my job and enroll in a B-school also presented itself with hurdles. I needed to have immense faith in my decision, I knew to be part of B-school would be challenging. I am pushed out of comfort zone every day, where I get to learn new things not just about business, but also about my potential. Even today, when the going gets tough, I remind myself of the self-taught approach - one day at a time.
