Few of the ambitions were quite challenging for me as it required a lot of courage and commitment to complete it.

  • The very idea of ship fascinated me and I wanted to study about ships which were denied by my family as we were living in land locked state and the conventional thinking they had. However, I was able to convince them and I pursued my B.Tech from CUSAT in Naval Architecture and Ship Building . I got the job as ship surveyor and was lucky enough to get my postings in Mumbai, Kolkata and Port Blair , visited the variety of shipyards and ships satisfying the curiosity and thirst which I had always dreamt of.
  • After working for 3 years, I realized that the managerial position would help me achieve better, i  started preparing for  the management exams , which in itself was the real challenge for me as I had no internet facility in Andaman and no coaching centers . I had to purchase books and did self study besides working with hectic schedule. By God’s grace, I was able to secure good percentile and through various selection processes,  I got TAPMI .
  • But joining TAPMI was not an easy path to ride, there came a mammoth task to convince my family for joining g the higher education course. The day I told them about it, they reacted absurdly and gave no attention to my frequent vociferous requests. Even, I got a good counselling from them regarding not joining the B-School, as I would be loosing the lucrative job and spending a hefty amount for pursuing it.  As the last date for confirmation was nearing by, I started panicking as no response was received from their end. Finally, on the last day I took a stand on my own saying that this is my decision to take admission and if anything goes wrong in between I will be responsible. If I m not able to secure admission due to all of you, I will always be under the guilt as to why I didn’t make use of the opportunity. The teary eyes of mine made by parents melted down and they agreed to my decision. This was the biggest challenge I faced in my life out of the other three.
  •  Here I stand on my own and very happy with my decision even though the days are more hectic now, sitting in the classroom after a gap of 4 years is an achievement.
  • “Make use of the opportunities provided to us otherwise we keep regretting for the entire life saying we  should have taken up that opportunity”
