Overcoming Challenges_TAPMII am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul—William HenleyLike most of the people in this world I had my own set of challenges in life which I m still facing and steering my way through.Sports: Right from birth I had a genetic disorder of getting frequent fevers which doctors had advised would go on till I attain puberty. This illness tried to make me weak physically but not good enough and I clinged to my love for sports and brought laurels winning more than 31 medals and becoming the sports captain in class 10th and 12th.Music: My parents coming from an orthodox background were never happy with my obsession with music and my desire to learn harmonium. With the help of my elder brother I used to wait late after school and spend time in music room and with me winning various music competitions in school my parents accepted my love for music and today I am a trained classical singer.Studies: I don’t know if it was a challenge or not but my elder brother was good at studies and always received accolades which inherently put pressure on me to do well in studies rising to my parents expectations.“Ye khel kud, dance, music se kuch ni hoga, padhai karni hogi”- this is a common buzzword students of north east often listen. Striking a balance between curricular and extra curricular I became the 2nd topper of my school in class 10th with 96% marks. This built a strong platform for my further studies and even helped in my MBA school selection.Indian girl at age 25 & Marriage:Graduating from college and landing into my dream core company “BOSCH”, I had just started to become independent, earning money, trying things which I was constrained from due to my family’s financial condition. But wait you are in India! Family, relatives all put pressure on you to get married. Select a candid photo from your instagram and please a guy on shaadi.com. But I knew that these demands would never end.Marriage-->Children-->GroomingAmidst these challenges I was not to sacrifice my dreams of higher education. Preparing for CAT along with 10-12 hrs corporate job was not easy but I knew “ Kuch pane ke lie kuch khona parta hai”And would avoid late night parties, weekend outing’s and snip in time for studies. Finally I am here in one of the prestigious MBA colleges brimming with more number of desires, dreams and conscious about my responsibilities to my family and society. I know the challenges are not going to stop coming but I remember the Agneepath poem by Harivansh Rai Bachhan ji“Tu na thakega kabhi, Tu na Thamega kabhi!!”
