Right from my childhood, I had this fear of public of public speaking. Whenever I was asked to speak in class, I would get very nervous, stutter so hard, finally end up screwing my speech or presentation. This happened for a long time till my 10th Std. Then I started asking my teachers, elders and seniors in school about how to overcome this. They gavee a lot of valuable tips and ideas. One thing that really helped me was extensive reading and talking in front of the mirror. I started reading novels and newspapers regularly. I would take up some current affairs and practice it as if I was presenting my whole class, in front of the mirror.
Then, slowly I was able to articulate my points in elocution competitions. People were shocked when I won 3rd prize in my school competition. They were used to teasing me but as soon as I spoke fluently, they were taken aback by the speech and for the first time, they were listening to me. Soon after, they started appreciating me when I used to go to state and national level competitions. This continued in my college too. I won several prizes. Eventually, I wanted to build my career in speaking.
So after I finished my college, I joined FACE - an organisation that empowers public speaking and aptitude solving in students . Now I'm happy for the way my career has shaped in to. My salary is low, but I'm satisfied because I love my job
