The Aditya Birla Group- I’m quite sure that every single one of us would have come across this “brand”. We have all been a customer or consumer of this one of India’s biggest business conglomerate, either directly or indirectly. They are widespread in 14 diverse sectors such as clothing, cement, financial services and telecom services etc... They have about 36 active businesses across 35 countries worldwide. The Aditya Birla group has been a part of all our lives in one way or another.
Now, coming back to our topic in focus! What impact did the Aditya Birla group made in my life? To be very honest, I’ve never really given a thought of how much I have been using/consuming the ABG’s products until I sat to write this article. Now, thinking about it, I can’t believe how much I’m dependent on their products or services. To start it off with, about a year back we re-constructed our house and I remember it distinctively that we had used “Ultra Tech” cement. Now, you might wonder how can I remember an information as trivial as the cement company’s name? I do have a crazy story behind that. My mother and I had gone to oversee the progress of the renovation and exactly at that day, they had run out of cement. It was already 5:00 in the evening; my father and the mason were in the middle of a heated argument. Obviously, my mother had to intervene, and my father explained the situation. The problem was that, the cement supplier had not provided the day’s load of cement and the previous load had already ran out. The mason had put everything on hold as the cement ran out. My father was confused and when asked the mason explained the situation to my father. My father questioned him about getting another load from the local market and the mason explained that they do not sell “Ultra Tech” cement. My father was utterly confused, so he had asked him to go for another brand. The mason refused and argued that it is genuinely not good for the building as he considers every home he is building as a temple. My father being the rational man that he is always argued that the mason and his subordinates are just cooking up reason for not to work for the rest of the day. My mother calmed my father down. She told the mason to wait for the tomorrow’s load and leave for the day. This little incident is what that made the name Ultra Tech last on my mind. The trust that the mason had placed on the brand. The trust that came from a man who worshipped his work is the biggest asset a brand could ever get.
Apart from that, I’ve been using the Vodafone network since 2009 (8th grade). The Vodafone merged with idea on 31 Aug 2018. Therefore, now my network providers are also a part of the ABG group. Finally, when I talk about the ABG group, how can I not mention Pantaloons. I have been a regular customer of Pantaloons for the last 5 years. I’m so glad that my friend suggested me to try Pantaloons as I had difficulties in getting clothes of my size. Pantaloons offers a wide range of brands and designs to select from and that too in all the sizes. Now, it just sounds like a Pantaloons promotional write-up.
Starting from building my house to the clothes I wear and the data network I use, the ABG is almost an inseparable part of my life. Apart from using their products and availing their services, the big impact that ABG made in my life is what the give back to the society. They made me realize that we must give back more than what we take from the society. They are definitely on their way to reach for the sun in this aspect too.
