A brand is a lot more than a product to most people. It carries with it a connotation of custom, trust and reliability. But in some cases it goes even beyond that and stands for memories and emotions -defining and poignant.

I have never been much of a consumer of brands,  so I am not in a position to speak about the various product/brand offerings of the ABG group. What I am intimately aware of, however, is the role the Pantaloons mall played in my childhood and the great times I had.

As a teenager at the turn of the 2010 decade in a small city like Bhubaneswar, Odisha there were not a lot of places to hang around in and do typical teenager stuff. It all changed for us with the opening of the Pantaloons mall in the city. I remember we would pool in the meager amounts of pocket money we used to get to buy burgers at the food court. I remember how we would hang out after school till night to listen to Linkin Park, Creed, Bryan Adams and the likes blaring from the mall speakers. I remember when we used to organize tournaments at the arcade, the joy and the heartbreak associated with our victories and losses. I also remember the manhunts our parents would organize to drag us back home – Good times.

To us it was never a shopping center that brought huge brands to one place, it was a place where we had everything we thought we ever needed at the time. #TripDownMemoryLane #BestDaysOfMyLife
