The story behind my pathway to IIM Visakhapatnam revolves on one word: Persistence. Like many other management aspirants, my aim was to join an IIM, for the sheer brand value. I had constructed a vision of me graduating from an IIM for more than 3 years and I was not prepared to alter this vision.

My 3rd attempt in CAT secured me a score of 94.13 percentile. I was out-right rejected by the top (or the old) IIMs except for one. I also failed to make the cut for the new IIMs, leaving my hopes hinging on just 1 interview, for that one IIM. I couldn’t believe that I just had one shot to make my dream and efforts of 3 years come to fruition.

And as fate would have had it, I did not make it into that IIM. Needless to say, I was devastated and even felt about giving CAT another time. However, the very next day, I received a mail from IIM Visakhapatnam, stating that my profile was selected for the interview round. Hope rekindled! One last shot at redemption!

I made sure I wrote a killer SOP as I didn’t need to give an interview (since I had already given the old IIM’s interview, that score would be considered at IIM-V). With my father as an inspiration, I made sure that my motive was conveyed within 600 words and the words were powerful enough to earn me the golden ticket into IIM-V.
Why IIM-V?
I knew that Vizag was a fast growing city and the scope of opportunities was immense. There was a revolution was building inside to make it into a successful IIM. To be in a place of rapid growth and to be a contributor, to leave a mark and to be proud afterwards and say “I was a part of that” was all I wanted.

I was doing my office work from my home when I received a beep on my phone. I thought it was a message from work, but to my pleasant surprise, it was a mail from IIM-V offering me a coveted seat in it’s MBA programme. I was over joyed and that is an understatement.
Aftermath
After a discussion with our fellow batch mates, we came to know that many had sacrificed seats in established IIMs to be a part of IIM-V. We all had realized the potential in this IIM and had vowed to sky-rocket its reputation to the best of our limits.
The destination is now rosy, but the journey is where the entire story unravels.
Which ABG company would I want to work for?
During my tenure at Accenture, the client I had worked for was SingTel, a leading telecom company in Asia. Hence, it is a no-brainer that I would choose Idea cellular company to work for. I had worked in SAP (Logistics division) for SingTel and have a working knowledge on the process of Procurement and Sales in a telecom firm. I would like to work at a role which would put my previous experience to good use at my new company.
