I am a student of Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi and hence the relevant question in my context would be what doesn’t make my campus unique? Pick up any XYZ Institute of Management and compare them with us, and you are bound to get everything different and unique in our case. People say we do not even have a campus, but I say we fulfill the greatest number of dreams per square feet. It is not called the ‘Red Building of Dreams’ for nothing.

So, keeping aside the small campus, university system, small fees, high ROI and other cliché points apart, I wish to talk about how my campus is really unique. Everyday has something new to impart in terms of academic learning and even more than that, what life teaches us here due to our operations under constraints. Life wouldn’t be similar had we had a huge campus with a hostel facility.

How would we learn to manage accommodation, food and everything else on our own? So, FMS prepares you to become a manager, even before you have actually joined it! Where else do you get to learn so much? That’s FMS Life Lessons 101.

Now, think of any B-school’s batch strength and divide it by two. Hey, you just got the batch strength of FMS Delhi! So the best part of having a small batch strength, keeping aside less competition is that since all of us are constrained in a small space, we end up knowing everyone from our batch and almost 80% people from our senior batch. Something, you will not find in any other B-school.

Also, since FMS is student operated, we get practical managerial experience even before joining any organization. We believe in learning by doing. And the culture at FMS is really unique in the sense that we do not believe in cut throat competition. Nobody is left behind here, and we make sure everyone is moving together. That’s the kind of unity an FMS batch has.

FMS is not just a campus, but a feeling. People say once you are a part of FMS, it stays with you throughout life. I believe this is what sets my campus apart. People say FMS students are humble, and that is because we have been brought up to manage and adjust in absence of certain utilities which other colleges may have. But despite that, we have made a mark in every sphere possible. We have learnt to make the best use of limited resources, excel despite that and this is what makes us unique. #proudfmsite

A memorable classroom experience in my B-School.

A memorable classroom experience was during our induction process here, when we had to submit a task for the Sports Society of our college. The submission required us to present a picture of ourselves playing a sport. So, there was a student who had submitted a picture of a quote, instead of his own picture. The quote said, “I don’t play sports, except running when there’s a sale- Jessica Simpson”. This isn’t the exact quote, but this was the gist.

And then the entire class burst out laughing. At the cost of sounding exaggerative, I would say our class laughed for nothing less than 10 minutes. The seniors also laughed with us, and the entire class had a great time because of that. This is something, I’m sure our entire batch shall remember throughout our lives and it was an extremely memorable experience. And not to mention, the guy became famous too.

So, here goes a list of some of my crazy batch mates-

  1. Aman Jain- He’s the quiet guy in class, and overall a sincere student. Now, this is the side he shows in class. Let’s present to you the other and probably crazier side of Aman. Here’s an incident which showcases his craziness. Back in his graduation college days, Aman had to go for his practical examination. So, the professor asked him to choose between three chits for selecting an experiment. So, our crazy batch mate on that particular day was short on sleep and wasn’t exactly in his senses. So, he started using akkar bakkar bambey bo for choosing the chit, and that obviously left the professor stunned. He reprimanded Aman, and asked him what was he doing. And Aman was hallucinating so he did not even realize what the professor was saying. And he started reciting Akkar bakkar bambey bo with greater speed. And that left everyone laughing in the class and Aman was asked to leave. So, this was my crazy classmate number1.

  1. Soum Halder- Soum is a chirpy guy who has his priorities set out straight. He is impulsive and believes in doing what he feels is correct and his definition of correct is obviously different and that’s what got him featured here. So, Soum has eaten weird stuff like ox tongue, blood sausages and tortoise meat, which is generally not considered very appreciative in general, but then he likes being different.

  1. Pooja Parwani- You look at her and see a nerdy girl with big frames sitting in a corner. But that is the opposite of who she is. She is an opinionated, loud mouthed person with lots of crazy stories to tell. Once she and her girlfriends drove all the way from chennai to pondicherry on scooties in the middle of the night, 150 kms, just to have breakfast at a famous French cafe there. If that is not crazy I don't know what is. Say hii, to miss crazy!

  1. Shanky Garg- He’s the famous guy in class, as he was one of the best actors during a cultural competition where he mimicked the seniors really well. But that’s not the only crazy thing about him. He is not only crazy, but also smart or lucky you may say. So, Shanky once installed an app and through referrals and cashback earned INR 48000. Yes, you read that right. And he gifted himself an iPhone with it. Crazy indeed!

ABG COMPANY I WISH TO WORK FOR-

Pantaloons is the ABG company I would want to work for because it is one of the fastest expanding fashion companies. Being a regular customer, I feel the product quality it offers is amazing, and that too at reasonable prices. The company has great customer services and appeals to me in a great way. It is something which I can identify with as I am fond of keeping up with the latest fashion and would love to join a fashion company as huge as Pantaloons. My wardrobe has all brands from Pantaloons, so I feel a personal touch with this company.
