There are other B-Schools and then there is SJMSOM, one of its own leagues. Interview experience at SJMSOM made me believe why IIT Bombay is the top University of India. Where other colleges were struggling to conduct smooth interviews for students in this pandemic, SJMSOM did so tirelessly and gave students one of the lifetime experiences in this COVID hit admission process. They used the Gather platform where the virtual campus was created and people were moving in-out with the bots of their choice.

P1 (SJMSOM Prof): Welcome Harsh, Tell me something about yourself?

I went ahead with the prepared answer and gave more emphasis on work experience.

P2 (IITB – Chemical Engineering prof): So you have graduated in 2016, you might not be remembering many concepts. What should I ask?

I told that I have revised some courses and Fluid-Flow and Mass-Transfer are my strength areas.

P2: What do you know about Dryers?

Knew the definitions and types of dryers

P2: Working of different types of dryers?

P2: Have you used any of your engineering concepts in your job?

Yes sir, when I was working with one of the chemicals manufacturing firm there for a short stint I have used the distillation concept from the mass transfer.

P2: Could you explain more and what was your thinking procedure for that problem statement?

Explained

P3 (Alumni): Harsh. Please tell me more about your work experience.

Gave prepared answer.

P3: So which role you enjoyed most?

With a Chemical Manufacturing firm as there, I was working as a Techno-Commercial Manager and was able to utilize my engineering as well as managerial skill.

P3: We take services from your current organization, could you explain to me more about your work experience there?

Explained

P1: Harsh, what all other calls do you have?

Told.

P1: Candidates before you have better calls and what makes you better than them?

Gave prepared answer.

P1: Ok Harsh, you can leave now. Good Luck!!

After completion of the interview, we filled survey form and then left the Gather platform.
