SJMSOM’s interview was the last interview of my MBA ’21 admissions season. The entire interview process was online which was carried out on the ‘Gather’ platform (this platform gave one of the smoothest experiences to all the candidates as it provided features to interact with the other candidates as well as to the adcom members). After waiting for an hour I was sent into the interview room. There were 2 Alumni of the institute and 1 Faculty member in the interviewer’s panel.
Their first question was to give a short introduction about myself and the rest of the interview revolved around what I described in my introduction. In my introduction I highlighted my 12+ months of experience in stock market trading & investing, I also mentioned about my internship experience where I worked on stock market prediction model, and lastly a small description about my work with NGO. Further, the panel member asked me few questions about stock market and my opinion on the current market scenario, this was followed by few budget questions. Based on the interviewer’s reaction I can say they were neither fully satisfied nor unsatisfied with my answers. So, with this mixed reaction we moved on to the next part of the interview where one of the alumni members asked me about the company/start-up which I admire the most. I answered OYO-hotel, then I was asked to explain why specifically OYO, so I talked about the business model of the company and about its growth story. There were few counter questions on this topic but ultimately, they were satisfied by my answer.
Further, one of the panel members dragged the conversation towards my academics and projects that I mentioned in my SOP. As the domain of my project was Machine Learning I was asked some basic question on Machine Learning.
Overall, the interview experience was very comforting and there was no hustle or confusion among the candidates as the adcom members of SJMSOM had planned and executed the process very well.
