I got the opportunity to intern at Metis ERC in bangalore which is a consulting firm. It primarily deals consulting in strategy execution area rather than the planning phase of strategy which is their unique selling point. Along with consulting, they also work in the area of prevention of sexual harassment in corporates. The culture at Metis was way more than different as compared to big MNCs. It focuses on small number of employees who are fully dedicated and passionate about their work. They believe team work is the ultimate key to success and each member of the team should be given equal opportunities to excel. While preparing for Metis, it was very important to go through each and every detail of their company and projects. They have huge knowledge centre at their website which has number of research papers in various areas and also has lots of real life case studies which are inspired from their own untertaken projects. As strategy exevution is the new oil and is not talked often, it became necessary to understand its importance before appearing for the interview. The case studies were have to be studied thoroughly and inferences along with suggestions have to presented in the interview. As part of Metis I got the opportunity to work on real life project individually. My project was all about identifying and mitigating top 5 operational risks in mid size IT companies. The project was a completely new concept and hence I got to learn in each and every step of doing it. It was basically a market research based project where I was supposed to meet mid level managers of IT companies for one on one interview to get deep insights about the operational risks in their organization. As operational risks are something which everyone is not familiar with, I had to make all my interviewees understand the actual meaning of operational risks. This has surely improved my convincing power and has definitely boosted my confidence to talk to people at higher designations. Metis really helped me network a lot which is definitely one of the biggest reasons that I am thankful to Metis. My mentor at Metis was Mr. Rajesh Athihalli who has the founder of Meris. He helped me with all my queries. I am really thankful to him for giving me the opportunity to intern at Metis and enhance my managerial skills to a great extent. He took ample amount just to make me clear about the objective of the project as Metis believes if you know your goal well, you can definitely achieve that. He actually ran me through their framework of strategy execution to complete my project. I got constant valuable feedback from Ms. Jaya for my project which definitely helped me refine my project to a great extent. I have learnt to do things in detail and knowing its impact and objective.
