As final exams of the Third Trimester came closer to an end, I turned in my last paper and looked ahead to my next project: Summer internship with Anzy Careers Pvt Ltd. in Bangalore. Some people may not recognize the name Anzy Careers as it’s a startup in the tech-based recruitment industry. It is a small company with an extra level of personal touch and charm and is in the business of tech recruitment ranging from Software Engineers to CTO level positions. Well after all in Bangalore, working with a start-up is the entire craze that there is among the youth.
The first week “on the job” passed with the whirlwind of understanding about the different departments in the company, how the recruitment industry worked as a whole combined with the hastily-packed lunches I took with me to the office every morning. As a Business Development Consultant – Intern, the project that I took over was titled “Creation and implementation of protocols and processes across Business Development and Marketing for increased efficiency”. The scope of the project was to identify the data that is spread around across all departments of the company, consolidate and streamline the data and establish protocols and procedures so that a structure is in place. Part of the project also included strategizing a branding plan for the company.
This internship as a part of the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management provided an opportunity in understanding business development and branding in the recruitment industry. It also gave insight into the grass-root level work carried out in social innovation by the company from the perspectives of branding. The work included Lead Generation, Business Development, Customer Engagement and Feedback, Market Research, Cross Department Data Consolidation, Social Media Branding, Content Writing and Social Media Engagement.
It was gripping and blunt, and I couldn’t wait to reach office every morning and set the target for the day on Trello during the morning meetings. My first month at Anzy gave me an incredible, hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of businesses than I had before.
During the second month, I spent a lot of time coming up with marketing strategies that I thought would go well. Some ideas were straightforwardly rejected by my mentor and a few others were graciously applauded. The two months flew by before I could even wrap my head around it. It was an incredibly busy time for me. My mentor and I, along with other interns would time and again have meetings to discuss the ever-persistent issue of agreements and implementation of customer feedback.
One of the coolest things about my job was the diversity of the tasks that I encounter. I had been a part of so many projects, more than I had ever expected to be being an intern. Every week gave me practice with so many different aspects of the company as well as the industry. One week I was Lead generating, next week completely spent on market research, then making calls to get customer feedback and after that streamlining the flow of data, towards the end, I got to work in the marketing field. It was all more like a jumble of assignments, but all very different.
I was getting tired of the constant, bumper-to-bumper, mind-numbing traffic that I hit every day in Bangalore, but I wasn’t tired of the work! Which is a good thing, because this internship gave me so much to learn in so less time, which is what I want my post-graduate job to be.
By the end of the internship, new protocols and processes were created and implemented across the Business Development Team for effective lead generation and tapping of new clients across the world, enhancing customer relationship by taking timely feedback and meeting with the existing clients, also job at hand on a day-to-day basis. All in all, it was a rewarding two months!
