One such part of the Aditya Birla family is the Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co. Limited (ABHICL), the health insurance arm of Aditya Birla Capital Limited (ABCL).
The advertising campaigns of Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co. Limited (ABHICL) are truly unique and something that has always inspired me in various ways. The campaign nudges us to realize how we are prone to neglect our health when faced with a choice between life goals and fitness. The campaign prioritizes healthier lifestyle choices with up to 30% of health insurance premium in the form of HealthReturnsTM, given that we are serious about our health.
In today’s fast-paced world, health generally tends to take a backseat, given hectic schedules and the luxury of having everything at our fingertips. With many of us finding it hard to make time for regular fitness activities, such unhealthy lifestyle and dietary choices can potentially lead to an increase in diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and heart ailments, etc.
Top level management has also sung praises about these innovate campaigns. This includes Ajay Kakar (Chief Marketing Officer), Agnello Dias (Chief Creative Officer) and Pallavi Chakravarti (Executive Creative Director). They intend to provoke people into questioning their priorities and encourage them to choose health as a priority life goal, one that is equally important as their career aspirations. The ABHICL campaigns are truly one of its kinds and continue to inspire millions of Indians even today.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far
I was a quiet kid in middle school. Every time the teacher asked a question and looked for answers, I tried my best to make myself unnoticeable. I would look away, hide under my desk, stare at the textbook, or sometimes even staring at another student hoping that the teacher would ask them instead of me.
I knew that this attitude of mine wasn’t healthy and was holding me back. I used to hope for some miracle and would always dread going to school. The teachers were aware of this issue and would usually give up when I wouldn’t respond. Some even stopped asking me as they knew that it was a useless exercise.
However, as I reached high school, I was a regular participant in discussions and would attend all school events. I even tried my hand in debates and poem recitation and won several awards in the same category.
What changed?
I was successful in recognizing that I’m an introvert and I’m shy. In other words, I enjoy my own company, and I can often feel uncomfortable in social situations.
At school, it seemed like the only students who excelled in academics were those who weren’t afraid to speak in class. I was certain that concept learning was something reserved for those who were outgoing or extroverted because they were the only ones that seemed capable of speaking and getting ahead in class.
I saw my introversion and shyness as issues I needed to address.
With a lot of practice and speaking in front of the mirror, I was successful in overcoming my social shyness and eventually I was able to move on from it completely. What I learned from this phase of my life that a problem can only be truly addressed once we are willing to accept it and work consciously towards making a meaningful change. Once we are able to overcome our own inhibitions there is no looking back.
