Sourabh belongs to a small town of Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh. He always used to spend most of his time with friends, in school, coaching, and playground and at night he used to watch T.V. serials and movies. During those days, cricket used to be his favourite game. He cannot forget the energy that he regained immediately after coming from school for this game. The name of his cricket team was ‘Ultratech’ only because the owner of cricket ground was a wholesale retailer of Ultratech cement, this is where he connects himself with Aditya Birla Group. At that time, mobile meant Nokia or Samsung, and the sim card was Idea for most of the Indians. The Aditya Birla Group fashion brands Pantaloon, Allen Solly, and many more have always fascinated him but he had never tasted any of them by then.
When he was in fifth standard, his father used to run a gas agency. That business was failed, and his parents had to go to Bhopal. His father started working in a private firm, and for the rest of his school life, he lived with grandparents and younger brother. It was a difficult time for him to live without parents. He learned to accept challenges, responsibility, and believe in himself. Living with grandparents was a benefit as they taught him the importance of time, love, and moral values. he changed preference from T.V. serials and movies to Ramayan and Mahabharat.
After passing out of school, he came to Bhopal and started living with his parents. He did his Bachelors in business administration. During the first year of his college he realized that people outside are involved in many activities apart from academics like social services, music, dance, drama, book reading, etc. he joined N.S.S. unit of the college, did exceptionally well there and got excellent volunteer award. He was also a part of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Bhopal
Whether it was verbal ability section of CAT or any set of skill that he lack in, he just gave his best he always kept dream in the forefront and made sure that no excuse can come between him and his dream.
He wrote CAT, got calls from various B school and gave the interviews and after continuous rejection and waitlist numbers. He thought, he could not make it this year. At that time, he was in the final year, yet he started doing job as a business associate and worked for fundraising of an N.G.O. It was hectic to move from one business house to another in the afternoon of may. One thing he learned from it was to adjust and continuously give best in unfavourable situations. On the 23rd of May, while he was coming back from the job, he got a mail stating ‘Congratulations! You have been provisionally selected for the MBA-HR program of IIM Ranchi.’
The very next day, he left the job and accepted the admission offer. He had offer letter from IIM Ranchi in his hand. Yet, he could not celebrate as he had to study for final year exams starting from the very next day.
The exam ended on 8th Jun 2019 then a small family trip to Shirdi, a few times with grandparents and then in IIM Ranchi on 17th of June
When he came to IIM Ranchi he found himself to be the youngest person of 2019-21 batch and getting admission in IIM at just 19 years of age is an achievement for him.
His expectation from life is to bring smiles on the face of his family members and retain those smiles as long as he can.
