I’ve been playing basketball since I was ten-years-old. I gave basketball my heart and soul. I never went for tuition outside school because I had to go for basketball practice in the evening for four long hours after traveling 12 km on my bicycle. But the four hours of practice in the evening and extra practice before and after school was not enough. My hard work on and off the court was not paying off. I was getting weaker every day both physically and mentally. As I grew up I became aware of the fact that the thing I was lacking in was not the effort nor the time I was putting in but the diet that was needed for my body to recover from the strain that I was putting on it. I knew what the problem was but I was not able to solve it because of the weak financial position of my family. So I kept on playing basketball with what diet and equipment I was able to afford at that time and participating in the district, state and national events that were sponsored and organized by school and government but missed many great opportunities to play at the national and international level that required some prior investment to participate.

Between all these events of life, I never lost focus on my academic performance and managed to score 92.2 % in 12th standard. With the help of this score and my performance in the trial for the basketball team, I was able to get a seat at Delhi University but was not able to join because of the financial condition of the family. This time I lost a major opportunity in my life because of the financial condition of my family. So I took admission in the Mukand Lal National College which was in my district only. But I kept on playing basketball with all my heart and was finally selected for the Kurukshetra University Basketball and Netball team and secured position in both the games at All India level. This was the break that I was waiting for and this lead to some scholarship from college, university as well as government. I used this scholarship only for my diet and for taking tuition for the first time in my life to prepare for various MBA entrance exams.

The sole purpose of writing this is to show how much I have lost in my life because I come from a financially weak background and because there was no scholarship at that time to help and support me. But my hard work and dedication kept me going and that is the reason where I am today and what I have achieved in my life.
