Being a year of pandemic, all the interviews went online this year. This didn't give us the actual experience of visiting campus and giving the interview but eventually helped us to save a lot of time and efforts on travelling. Unlike most other b-schools SJMSOM did make an effort to try and give us the same kind of experience as we might have got on a non-pandemic year. They used a platform called Gather for the same. It was the first time I was hearing about the platform leave alone using it. Hence was a bit nervous that I shouldn’t have any technical glitches on the D-Day. However, the usage videos and the UI of the platform was very user friendly and made us feel like actual campus with auditorium, rooms, helpdesks!
We were grouped in rooms based on our Btech streams. Post the introduction session mine was the 3rd interview in the panel. It comprised of 3 panellist one of whom was a CSE professor at IIT B! It started with various questions on programming concepts and technology stack . I was then asked by another professor about my work experience. They listened carefully and then asked few questions on it. They even asked on CEO and ex- CEO of my company, How its different form its competitors. Then when it went to the third professor she asked about the upcoming election in my state. About various political ideologies and how they differ, recent scraping policy and few sector wise questions on GDP.
Overall, they were not as intimidating as I thought they might be, in fact everyone was friendly and the interview went well and I eventually converted the college in its first list !
