Why ABG is important in your life?

Let’s take a 360 degree view around us and we could realise that not only the world is beautiful rather it’s been made beautiful by one of the largest conglomerate, Aditya Birla Group. Ranging from building the house we live in(using UltraTech cement) to the dress we wear(Van Heusen etc) to the mobile network(Vodafone Idea) which connects people to the roadways, it is a group that has provided livelihood to tons of people. Needless to say, Aditya Birla Group has an impactful influence over each and every one in society as well as every aspect of their life.

I was lucky enough to be introduced to this huge conglomerate from my childhood days since we had the Hirakud division of Hindalco near our home. The sight of 3-4 chimneys while I travel to and fro gives the feeling of something big operating near our locality. Later during my adolescence, I recognised what that red and yellow design (logo) represents and it gives me immense pride. The values in the form of integrity, commitment, passion, seamlessness, and speed are very much evident in its each and every product.

The vibrant ads of ABG over TV are something that captures everyone’s attention. But the real vibrancy that ABG has brought in real life has impacted me more than the reel one. The development activities that I have witnessed in the locality of Hindalco are something that awes me every now and then. A whole township has brimmed over there with great connectivity and facilities, and that is what ABG is known for. “They make the thing that makes India proud.”

A challenge that you overcame

“Ever tried, ever failed. No matter, try again, fail again, FAIL BETTER”- Peter Dinklage

It’s said that comfort zone is a nice hut to reside, but nothing grows there. Challenges always help us push our limits, break us into pieces and mould us into something better, something we never thought we could be. It makes us a better version of ourselves.

As a child whenever someone asked me what I wanted to become when I grow up, the answer used to be spontaneous- “I want to be a doctor.” I was a very bright student, perfect scorer, teacher’s pet and a high spirited boy. I scored a good 90% above in my 10th standard and took optional as biology. I was getting closer to fulfil the one big dream of my life.

“Man proposes, God disposes” – I failed. It was the first time that I was witnessing failure in my life. Despite all the hard-work and dedication I failed. I was dejected and very low on confidence. I was clueless about the next step.   But finally I decided to consult one of my teachers who was my guide throughout my preparation. I asked him the question that haunted me day and night- “why after everything I did I failed? What wrong did I do?” Being a patient listener he gave me one of the best advices of my life. He said “Failures are those who give upon themselves, who refuses to be the better version of them. If you are growing, you are succeeding. The easiest way to fail is to stop trying and you tried. Congratulations on that!”

Those words never left me. I completed my bachelor’s in engineering, got a decent job, and now doing MBA from one of the most prestigious institutions. Was that my only failure in life? No! I failed many times after that too. But now, every time my questions were different. I started analysing my shortcomings with a lot more positive attitude and each day I keep reminding myself that no failure is final and no success is permanent.
